Help with SEO at this site?

www.tcustomgolf.com

I am a accredited custom golf clubamker that is pretty new to SEO, and my site has only been up a couple of months. Did the site myself and read up on SEO stuff, so I just added a robots.txt file, did a keyword search for my area and used "custom golf clubs" as the criteria.

In the lower 100's on Yahoo and MSN search. Finally appeared in Google in the lower 500's, got down in the last few weeks to about 475, now I seemed to disappear (from google). Used on of Donna's tools to search Google up to 1000 and no hit. Still showing a 3 out of 10 on the Page Rank.....

Any help would be appreciated......

first of all, let's just be clear that none of those tools are mine - they are just on the list i created. don't want to take credit for something i didn't do.

second, the most important thing for you to do right now is get out there and get backlinks to your site, using your keyword phrase "custom golf clubs" as the anchor text. so, in your signature on this forum, for example, rather than having your domain name as the anchor text (the part that is underlined), it should be "custom golf clubs" instead. get as many backlinks as you can get, with pluses if those backlinks come from a high PR page and/or are related to the theme of golfing.

First, if dd designed the tool it would be perfect.

Besides the guidance from dd, I would also submit to every FREE directory in their sports section using your keyword phrase. The key to your success is going to be backlinks, hopefully relevant, and plenty of them.

Thanks for the quick responses.

So http://www.tcustomgolf.com in my signature would become Custom Golf Clubs using my home page as the redirect?

And by backlinks I guess you mean a link to my site from another related site? I have submitted my link to some sports/golf related sites, and the links are there, but they have yet to show up if I do a "link:www.tcustomgolf.com" search on Google. They have been there a couple of weeks, and I know through my stats that googlebot is visitiong almost everyday.

1. yes that's what i mean.
2. yes, that's what i mean. those backlinks you've already gotten will probably show up in a month or so. if there's enough of them, you will probably see your site move up in the rankings before you see them show up as backlinks. in any case, no matter how many backlinks you've already gotten, go get more!

Thanks again, dazzlin....

Any reason I would drop off google so quickly after moving up little by little?

Google gives new sites a little boost and then drops them back down after a short time. Most likely that's what happened to you. You'll need to do some work to get it to start climbing back up again. But, that's the game we play.

Try looking for other keywords to optimise for, maybe another 2. Try looking in other competing sites Meta tags to see what they have got.

I had a look at some of your competing sites it should not take too much to beat them.

Thanks Mr. Murray.....any suggestions for other keywords??

This guy (www.theaceofclubs.com) is doing something right as he is #1 on google, yahoo and MSN using "custom golf clubs" as the keywords when searching....and is up high using just "golf clubs"!!

Looked at his site.....I'm using similar keywords in the meta tag, I know he has quite a few back links, AND noticed all his links have the same alt tag popping up....from what I hear on this forum, that may help also??
