Question Help with search engine ranking please...

Hey,

How's it going? I'm looking for some help getting my site
up a bit in the search engines. At present it's sitting at
around 146 in google and it is Untitled with no
description.

My website is www.el-jugador.com it's for a rock band
from Scotland. I tried using Ranking Toolbox a few
months ago, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on both
upping my rank and getting some kind of title/description.

No comments on site design please, it is a bit basic, I
already know this.

Thanks

Webmaster Willis

Most obvious problems are:
1) You need backlinks to the site.
2) There's no text on the homepage for Google to do anything with.
3) The site is in frames.

You should start by reading the SEO for Newbies link in my signature, and then at least start by dealing with the 3 problems I listed.

Cheers...

Cheers...

I will check that out...

A couple more questions if you got time...
1. What exactly is a backlink?
2. Does the text on the homepage need to be visable?
3. Would I be better with a kinda intro page to avoid frames?

Thanks

Invisible text can get you in a whole lot of trouble.

Cheers Larry...

I didn't realise that... I have updated my site so that my index.html
has no frames and added meta tags to it... I also added links on my
site that link back to the index page... Will this be enough for the
search engines to list it? My index page is kind of an intro page so
I don't want much text...

Cheers

I would take the advice of the previous poster and do a little reading first. If no one has linked to your site it is very improbable that google would spider it - definately not on a regular schedule.

There is a great deal of knowledge already posted on this board. Have a read then post any specific questions you may have and I'm sure everyone will be more than happy to answer them.

Talking

Thanks peeps...

I just checked my ranking in google and I'm at 12 with
a description and title... That's much better... I did some
of the recommended reading and tried some of the tools.
I guess it really does pay off...

Thank you very much

Webmaster Willis
