Help Needed!
Hi there guys,
I've a site with frames, and I would like to know if you could help me to improve it. I would like to know what can I do to make it findable in Google. What are the tricks I should use or recommendations I should follow in order to make it reacheable by any person via Google. Keywords or other tips. Thanks a lot! Please help! xxxhttp://www.GAMESTAGE.NET Last edited by EGOL : July 31st, 2004 at 06:42 AM. Reason: active link removed |

I think this should actually be in Site Review so I'm sure it will be moved.
Why are you using so many frames. On my computer, all I can see is scroll bars 7 on my computer! Do you have a reason for using so many frames? |

First step toward improvement is to get rid of the frames. Use SSI instead.

You'll want to be sure and include a good site map and use Self-Referencing Framesets!
A major problem with using frames is that when an internal page is accessed say via Google search results, it will open without your navigation. Self-Referencing Framesets will fix that problem.

Yeah... used someting similar before. Did the job, but I did not like that it would not let you go back to the previous site with the back button. Maybe I was doing stuff wrong, but I had basically no pages in SERPS until I switched to CSS. Then my pages started to pop in the SERPS. Maybe 1% of the people I read on forums said frames were good stuff... the other 99% said to get rid of them. |

Most people who do use frames probably do not care to get into a debate about using them.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand sites using frames... They appear old and unprofessional.
If I were you, I would definitely redesign your site to remove the frames. You'll be glad you did. Brad

I'm guessing the frames is so the site is centered and so the navigations stays put. My suggestion is to setup a table that is 100% wide and high, mimic the frames with cells, throw all you nav bars and side bars into the cells and put an iframe in the center. Better for SEO and better for users.

You have fairly big images and i use IE6 which means....
THAT ANNOYING IMAGE TOOLBAR! Use below code to stop it showing: Code:
<meta http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="no"> Dan |

The Answer Seems Awfully Clear.
If you look over the responses here, and look about other forums and the web in general, it is hard to escape this simple conclusion:
Don't use frames.OK? -- Cordially, Eric Walker |
