Hi,

Please take some time to look at my newest site ESV-Bibles and post your suggestions, etc here.

I am targeting the specific search terms of:

Well, you should do well for these terms, it will take time. Clean code, you might want to put a doctype declaration on the very first line of the code.

Are you ranking at all for those terms? I just ran a google API and you do not come up. Have you checked your logs to see if Google has visited you yet?

Do you have many links coming in to you? That will be important. You need to go out and hunt down sites that will accept your link, make them relevent to your business or field, and then craft your text link to contain those keywords in it.

And be patient, ranking does not happen overnight..

Thanks for the tips Zen. The site just went live today, so that's why you cannot find it in any of the SE's yet.

As far as inbound links, I spent today adding myself to about 50 directories that I have used for other Christian sites I own, so within a day or so I will start appearing up on those. I also, of course, linked to the site from my other sites that are already in the Google index.

I'm not real technical so I can only give you my impression as a potential customer.

There's nothing to really grab your attention and make a person want to read all that text you've written. BUT, it is well written text, it just has to have some way to grab a person's attention at a glance to make them want to read it.

Maybe you could highlight its features, like make a bulleted list where you wrote:
"fully searchable text of the ESV; the KJV Bible; Strong's Concordance; Exploring the Old and New Testament; the Classic Commentary on the whole Bible; and a number of other resources."

Then, the features would stand out at a glance and your visitor would be more likely to read the text.

Of course, this is just the opinion of someone who doesn't know what she's talking about

Thanks apost. Actually the text on the index page is a press release from the publisher. I will try and make it have a little more visual "punch" though and did bullet out those particular sections.

Also added some product links to two software products that are mentioned in the text which should break up the monotony of all the black text a bit

You may want to make some of the headlines into actual html headlines.. use the H1, H2, H3 tags on down the page, and make the H1 text full of keywords. You can control the size of these also, by using an external styleshhet, so that they do not look too large. But to a viewer that will grab their attention.

So it was just uploaded! Cool.. go submit it to google and wait for the freshbot to arrive, and keep track of it by using Darrins tool.. I just installed it and it looks good.. waiting on my first hits from google to see how it works!

Thanks again for the suggestions Zen. I already have the css setup and am utilizing h1 and h2 on all pages. I have more headlines (up to h6) on the purchase page since that is the key page of the site.

The site has been submitted everywhere so I am guessing by past experience that it will get indexed in google in March and picked up by other SE's within a month or so.

I have to give Darrin's tool a try, but this particular site is on budget hosting and I don't have SSI available, but for 6 bucks a month I can't complain
