Dialup Load Time Check Please
If anyone out there is using Dialup can you please check http://www.dlighters.com/zippo-style.html load time? I have a feeling it may take awhile but I'm on a cable modem so I can't really tell. I'm trying to figure out if I need to offer a page with no photos for slower connections.
Thanks Laura |

i find those math based reports to be very generic and insensitive to real conditions. i would get some real input from dial-up users like you requested.

Validate your Html
In my opinion these tools are really great if you don't have a lot of time to get the feedback you need.
Line 15, character 98: ... bgcolor="#F4F4F4" fontclass="productSmallInfo"> ^ Error: there is no attribute FONTCLASS for this element (in this HTML version) |

Thanks kevsugo but as 'Relax' said I'm hoping to find someone using real dialup. Those page load check sites always seem to give odd times.
As far as validation I appreciate you pointing that out but, and I'm not trying to start a discussion on this, to be honest I don't care. If it works in IE and Netscape that all I care about. I don't really care about Opera or Fire whatever. |

Sorry to be so long in replying - I'm on dial you see.
I had a look at your page and wrote a diary of what I saw: Monday 5th April 22:58:02 GMT+1: Clicked the link on this page. New window appears instantly but is blank. Monday 5th April 22:58:22 GMT+1: Header appears Monday 5th April 22:58:26 GMT+1: Text content appears. Yippee! Pictures also start appearing. Monday 5th April 23:00:07 GMT+1: Pictures all loaded. Dial up users don't mind how long the pictures take (within reason) as long as there is something to read in the meantime. 20 seconds for the text to download is poor - it's those fancy dropdowns loading. I'm on a 28k connection by the way. That's the only technology available in deepest darkest Bedfordshire. ![]() |

Does Google count more than 1 link from the same site? If so that page is going to get a whole load of really well targeted page rank some time very soon.... ![]() |
