Any search engine expert can help with non-profit Buddhist Site?

Hi,
I am the webmaster of E-Sangha, http://buddhism.lioncity.net/
setup 4 months ago. We are included in dmoz, Yahoo! etc. I had tried few optimization technique describe but I just cannot get the site listed in the top few pages of google. This site is totally non-profit and all our traffic are from word of mouth and google advertisement (sometimes, some members sponsor teh advertisement). We have more than 900 pages, with around 600 indexed by google and our hits daily is around 50,000.
Any expert out there willing to guide me in optimzing the site? The keyword that I want is "buddhism", "buddhist", "mahayana buddhism", "Zen", "zen buddhism" and "tibetan buddhism".
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

I don't know much about optimising for forums. What I would suggest though is:

1) Submitting your site to educational directories and/or religious education sites.

2) Build a static web site that gives lots of information about the different types of Buddism, their history, beliefs etc; and have that as your front end (You obviously have a lot of content available but you need to know who you're trying to reach and for what reason and then you can cater to them).

This way you can try to become an 'Authority' on the Buddist subject and get high rankings.

i think seo-chat can learn a thing or two from the buddha rules:

Quote:
If you had decided to join in our discussion, please remember these few rules:

1) Treat all posters with respect. Some alias may be noble sangha and very modest.

2) Each one in this international forum could have different background and opinion. Dhamma is general but unique for each person's understanding and progress. If you disagree, simply accept difference and ask for information you may not know.

3) Avoid blaming others. Seeing someone's fault is easier than one own fault.

4) Try to find your own fault and purify your mind.

5) Always check your karma and its fruit from participating in this forum.

6) Followers of New Kadampa Tradition are welcome to join us and post freely but you are not allowed to post links to New Kadampa Tradition website.

7) No using multiple identities.

8) Do not use offensive or vulgar language.

9) Do not engage in personal attacks or sect bashing.

10) E-Sangha reserves the right to publish, republish, delete or modify all discussions without asking for permission to do so.

please note:

relaxzoolander would be 'exempt' from no. 3 and no. 9.
also...i always follow rule no. 5.....karma check...very important!

[edit]
interesting how the no. 8 turns into a smilie....thats some kind of buddha magic or something at work here. cool!
