Am I Doing Anything Wrong?

I've spent the last few months rewriting and optimizing our site based on things I've read here, and elsewhere, about optimizing for Google.

We're targeting 'Antique Furniture' as our primary keyword. I have not seen any significant improvement in our keyword rank, and our pagerank has stayed at 3 for the last 6 months (and probably even before that.)

I've also been working really hard to get lots of backlinks, but Google has yet to see most of them according to a search for my domain's backlinks.

swayye, your site looks really well optimized. In page optimization is really good. Congratulations.

I only think you need to get more links. Have you submitted your site to all the directories out there? DMOZ? Jayde? Zeal? Gimpsy?
You need to look for more sites to get links from (or exchange links with).

Other than this everything looks great to me...

You are not doing anything wrong. Just some more determination and patience and you will make it...

You're doing alright with your backlinks (although it doesn't hurt to get more ;) ) but you should realise that lots point to harpgallery.com i.e. without the www.

So you might want to pull those two domains (with and without www.) together by using some sort of (301/permanent) redirect. It won't work instantly, but in the end it will cause all backlinks/pagerank to be focused on your main url.

I have 301 redirects set up in .htaccess for harpgallery.com, harpgallery.net, www. harpgallery.net, www.theharpgallery.com, theharpgallery.com.

Thanks for the positive remarks guys. This has definitely been one time intensive learning process for me. And I've been doing sites for years!

I haven't checked out all of those directories. But, we are in google directory (i believe the editor found us), and thus probably dmoz. I will definitely look up the others.
