SEO software...
Hi,
I'm looking for any suggestions for SEO software (not web based). Not that I dislike web based solutions it just seems like a re-curring cost, and if there's a way to achieve the same results with (desktop) software that would be an option to look into. I did some reading and research and heard about... 1. Web Position 4 2. IBP 9 3. Keyword Elite 4. Submitwolf & other Trellian software 5. NetTracker 6. SEO Elite I'm looking for software that can perform all kinds of SEO tasks but would not mind buying another software as well if it excels in a certain area. Any suggestions? Thanx for your help in advance! Mike |

Web Position is junk and has crap support... I actively use Seo Elite and Keyword Elite... except for that most other seo software doesn't do much for me.

Bhumi & Visio,
thanx for your answer. I read that since end of 2007 web position does not have a valid api for google anymore and that google could ban your ip if u overuse the tool... Is that true ? Visio, what do you use SEO Elite for ? I read one of your reviews where you state that you like the tool where you can check if other link partners still are linking back to you. Anything else you use from that software ? Also, I just build a little and simple business site - gonna take it on a test trip regarding SEO & SEM for the next 6-12 months. It's hosted pretty simple and cheap with GoDaddy. Unfortunately, my plan does not provide a (stats) logfile - GoDaddy provides simple stats via html files, which are okay, but of course I can't really 'work' with them, meaning I can't change the look or extract the data for creating my own charts and comparisons... When I called them they told me if I upgrade to a different plan than there is software included that generates a logfile - which I then could use with (other) software to analyze the data. This is the first time I'm doing this, so here's my nOOb question: Is there a software that I can (buy and) install myself to generate that logfile (to avoid monthly extra costs) ? I know there are several online services that offer that service for cash, which means I could also consider the GoDaddy upgrade option. Just wanna check out all availabe options... Thanx for your help in advance !!! Mike |

Mike, I don't recall ever saying I used that feature, I may have noted it in one of my reviews for those interested but I have never been big on reciprocal linking and I believe for about 2 years now I have not participated in any... I use seo elite mainly for its link analysis feature... it gives me all the backlink data in a excel style format which can be re-arranged easily and it provides me with a number of informative columns on each link... I have used this information to find a competitors weakness, a competitors link building techniques, to outdo a competitor, to find the reason for a penalization or ban and to build ideas for link baiting... Seo Elite does nothing that can't be done manually, it just speeds the process up and gives me a chance to look a the data collectively without having to manually collect it. If any of the above interests you try Seo Elite for the trial period... if after you buy it you don't like it get a refund... As for logs and stats, cPanel has a number as well as AwStats which is pretty good... also google analytics is free and really good. |

Visio,
thanx for the info - really, really helpful. The thread in which u reviewed/talked about SEO Elite was actually a couple years old - but as stated, u mentioned that this is a nice option to check out u did not state in that comment that u actually use it. Regarding c-panel, I'm absolutely unfamiliar with their products - I checked out their home page but did not find anything relating to log files, they don't even mention that term in their server products section... Thanx again for your help. Mike |

When I do some analysis in SEO, there are many great free tools that I rely that I do not need an SEO software. Link analysis- Yahoo site explorer/Google webmaster tools and exported their data to excel for analysis. Keyword research- Google adwords/estimator also export excel for analysis. Site analysis/onsite- View the source code/ analyze internal links using Google advance search function, similar page checker, redirect checker, html to lynx viewer function (many of those are online like SEO chat).Google webmaster tools to diagnose crawling related issues, internal links, possible penalties, robots.txt and many more Rank checking- Google set to 100 per page (then CTRL -A and find the site.) Also, i learned that mastering SEO principles is much more important than mastering how to use an SEO software. SEO software cannot solved all SEO campaign problems that is why IMO it is more important to stick to principles than what the sofware has to offer. And there is no ever risk of IP ban in case of misuse.

I mostly rely on free tools for SEO analysis. Websitegrader.com, seoworkers.com, prchekcer.net, etc. have very nice free resources you could look at. There are thousands more out there - but these are the ones I ocassionally use.

I would agree there are so many tools that are free to use, I would check out them first before spending money.
seoquake is something I use quite a lot. |

I did not see anything that analyzes how your internal link juice flows through your website, so, while not a pure SEO tool like the other, A1 Website Analyzer might be worth trying out.
