    Posting on forums

    What are you thinking about this? You know something about payed posting in blogs or social, but something about payed posting on forums?

    Next to useless if you're intending purely to spam forums.

    Like (I suspect) a number of posters on here, forums have been valuable for us in bringing us traffic to our site - but only because:
    1 They're forums which are highly relevant to our business
    2. We're genuine and regular contributors, known to the community.
    3. Any link we post is only in answer to a question about that topic, we never blatantly advertise.

    I doubt the links have brought us any benefits in SEO terms, but they have brought us customers because of the relevancy.

    As a forum poster I pay no regard to anyone who posts merely to advertise and doesn't join in with the community; as a forum owner I get rid of such posters immediately.
