Competitor backlinks

hello,

Iīm working on a new backlinks analyzer software in the style of Seo Elite, what the program is suppose to do is to get All the backlinks of a given website and analyze them.
My problem is that everybody says that Yahoo link option is the best to get the list, and as far as I know it is, but it only supply you with the first 1000 links (even with the API), these days big websites have far more than 1000 links, so my question is, do you know of a way to get the FULL list of backlinks of a website ?
thanks

You can't, there is no tool, free or paid that can display the whole set of backlinks especially if there are sites with 100,000+ backlinks.

Also, what I am suggesting is to do sampling. For example:

1. yahoo site explorer (inbound links pointing to the homepage from outside the domain) = 65311

2.Yahoo site explorer will give 1000. So the 1000, is your sample size.

Now if you want to investigate the % backlinks containing anchor text for example.

And out of the 1000, you have 300 of them with the targeted keywords. The % will be 300/1000 or 30%. So this means for the whole population of back links, there will be around:

30% x 65311 = 19593 backlinks containing the targeted keyword.

This means you can still measure with 1000 samples if you know the total number of backlinks(population)

your idea is good, canīt be precise, but you can get an idea.
Do you know of any other search engine I can get backlinks from, I tried Alltheweb and Altavista, but the set of ibl given is practically the same of Yahoo, and MSN has stop giving out them, do you know of any other search engine I could query to see if I can add some other links to the 1000 I get from Yahoo ?

yahoo site explorer so far in my experience is the most reliable and free backlink tool. 1000 sample sizes are enough.

In addition to yahoo, i suggest you will try signing in for Google webmaster tools account. It will display backlink details but the exported file may be limited to a samples also.

Do not add the results or data (like adding 1000 data you have from yahoo), you will suffer from duplicated entries thus polluting your data. Analyze them separately, i mean one analysis using yahoo data and one analysis using google data.

thanks,

I actually already use the file from google webmaster tool, you can add where your file is saved on your pc, the program adds the google list to the links I got from yahoo and from technorati, then it checks for duplicates and delete any duplicates.
The problem with the file from google webmaster tool is that you only have it if you own the website (or do seo for it) so if you are only checking competitor website you wonīt have that data....
I agree that 1000 is a good sample data, but if there was a chance to have more than that it would make the competitor ibl study much more precise...

In fact, do not be obsessed with back link quantity it won't help that much, instead do more work in getting quality relevant links by link bait or other creative methods and i'm sure you are on the right way of betting your competitors who got more than a thousand spammy back links.
