Has anyone done tests on new site boost effect?
Just wondering if anyone has compiled any test data/observations on the new site boost effect
ie 1) How long it lasts (is it a consistent time or vary widely) 2) Is the effect consistent (does it always happen or just some sites) 3) How strong is the effect (How competative industry does this allow you to achieve high short term rankings for) 4) Is there methods that can be used to capitilsie on this effect? If anyone has some tests/observations I would be interested if you would share. Thanks

All though I haven't done any test or observation on this, but still I would like to share my views.

I think the result of first two points will depends on the 3rd point. If we are targeting a highly competitive market the boost of new site is tough and even if it got that boost it will tough to get a consistent performance. The situations will be changed according to the competition of the market. Quote:
Not to go for highly competitive market, it is better to start with a less competitive market. Quote:
My comments are not directly related to what you have asked in the thread, but this is what I feel about this and I tough I should share that. |

I have pages that rank surprisingly high out of the gates but then drop a little within a few days. This does not happen very often on my sites.
I have other pages that rank low out of the gates but then creep up the SERPs slowly for many months - without any new links. This seems to be the standard case for pages on my sites. Rarely, I have a page that will get amazing immediate rankings and remain there. I have done my best to clone the format, content structure, etc. of these pages but have not been able to intentionally duplicate the results. These high ranking pages have been for subjects that are within the theme of my site but are first mentions of the subject - so I have no existing anchor text or instances of the keywords.

I'm not sure how one would test this.
Most of the new sites I've put up get decent results rather quickly due to immediate backlinks, then taper off. After a little while they come back into the picture again. Not sure if that's due to the backlinks, or site boost. My backlinks come very naturally, so I can't account for it. But, I've yet to see conclusive evidence of the existance of Site Boost. It's possible it's just initial backlinks.
