Forum Signature/ Profile Links Test

I know what I know, and it unusual for me to "not know"... but I'm always open to learn.

Please track you data... and if you can show "ONLY" forum profiles, post or sig links (no footer, sidebar or header sitewide links) I'll pay you for your data.

However, if you intentionally point non-forum links (or the previous "no go" links from forums)... I'll find reasons to knock all your domains down to page 5 by pointing quality links to everyone else in results.

Can a mod split this thread... this side topic is completely off topic to the opening post.

The point here isn't to see something move from #96 to #31 (a theoretical example only)... no matter how competitive or uncompetitive a phrase is... top 10 is the only part that matters.

No one pays to be a bridesmaid on page 4... not even a virgin.

Landing on Mars and coming home safely is "IMPRESSIVE"... dying in a crash landing on Mars isn't a success in anyone's book.

Similarly, while 65 position change might seem impressive... "not getting into sales range" is a waste of my time, everyone elses time... and should also be a waste of your time.

...that's the point.

How are you hoping to prove anything with this test? It's flawed from the start!

Rankings fluctuate from day to day and even more so on pages so far down the serps. How are you going to show that any improvement in rank is a result of the links that you are putting up?

You should have tracked the site on a daily basis for a couple of weeks and taken an average.

the point of this test is to show that they are not completely worthless

don't try to through ROI in this...that's ANOTHER test.

the point is that if you can rank high for keywords then you can make $$$ by targeting the money keywords.

you can't say trying to rank for something is pointless

it has only about 80 backlinks..and i'm not doing any onpage optimization.

I want you to prove your point, the fact is that with this set up its impossible!

If you can't get to #1 or at least top 5 - I call that worthless.

We disagree on what level of development is preferred value.

I get a plate of fries that cost me $5.00 I see that as value... and eat my plate of fries.

I drop 1 fry on the ground, and ignore it... you come racing along to grab it and gobble it up... "it was free" and that's the important value to you.

The point here though... "I'm full" ... my plate of fries filled me up... and you are still waiting to get more so you can claim a free lunch.

I believe I have the better food strategy.



The point of this test is to build effect ranks... if you're claim to fame is merely "Page Two" that's worthless to anyone interested in having a proftable business...

Obviously though when profit isn't a concern "you'll settle for bottom feeding".



I see no point testing "what doesn't work" unless you're proving why you shouldn't use it.



Ya - unfortunately, you haven't shown any money terms are achievable with just forum links.



Ranking on page 2 as an end goal is pointless.

Getting to #1 in less time by not using forum links... is more desirable for everyone (other than you).
