Stats program
do you guys know of any free stats program which does not require perl, and which gives you stats for the entire site not just one page?
I looked at Awstats, but they require perl, and i do not have access to the server. Looking forward to your responses. Thanks. Tejas www.thedesi.com |

Do you have PHP/MySQL?
I'm thinking of putting up the script I wrote (and use on my sites) for anyone who wants it. Just does basic stat collecting - I use it to track unique visitors, their IP, referrer etc. and every hit that googlebot and slurp (inktomi) make. Anyone interested in that - it's pretty simple to set up? If you only have HTML and no server access, then your options are pretty limited. I do vaguely remember reading something about a site where you can put some javascript on each of your pages and they track your stats - you log into their site to view it etc. but I can't remember the name of it at the moment - maybe someone else knows it? |

No worries - I'm just tidying up the code a bit and writing a readme.txt file and little things like that - I should have it ready in the next day or so... I'll post a link here when it's done.
One word of caution though, it will require some PHP code to be added to each page you want to track visitors from, so if your site currently uses .html extensions for your filenames, you will need to rename your files to have a .php extension... this could cause you a bit of pain if your files are already indexed in the search engines and you have decent page rank etc. - either you'll need to wait a while for the search engines to pick up your new filenames, or put in a series of redirects from your old file names to your new ones... might be an issue for you, might not? (unless of course you have access to the setup of the server you're on, in which case you should be able to set up .html files to parse as .php - unless you have your own dedicated server though, it's unlikely you'll be able to do this). |

Ok, my web stats script is ready to go - anyone who wants to download it, go to http://www.marketing-seo.com/software-tools.php
To view a live operating report from this stats script go to http://directory.bonustracker.com/webstats/ This site has only been live for a couple of weeks, so there aren't a lot of visitors, but it does give you a chance to see the script in action. |
