what do you need to know?

I developed some seo scripts for me, I am using these
scripts:

- ranking monitor (in fact is a program, not a script): I watch
rankings of my sites/competition, against competitors
- referers logger - a script that logs/stats kewords that people
come into my sites. Google offers this in webmaster tool,
but I made one for me that fits my requirements and offers
an easy snapshot of where I stand
- links monitor: I follow how many indexed pages and backlinks
my sites have (over time). some basic charts and periodical
updates for my sites

all these I do for competition as well: ranking monitoring
and backlinks/indexed pages.

I belive these are the most important indicators one needs
to follow to avoid any accident. if you have many websites
is very hard to monitor everything, but the tools I made
help me keep an eye on everything and once I see a problem
or want to dive more into an optimization, I use more powerful
tools, like google webmaster tools or analytics.

I am curios what other webmaster are using, what king of
tools or info they consider important.

No one can tell you exactly. There are nothing as such. Only your own R & D will be proved better. What I can suggest - go with new design, content, title, des., keyword, your main keyword in first sentences, h1, bold text, etc will help you to do better.

You asked to know basics about "seo scripts" - That's like me asking a mechanic to explain the basics of tools.

Be more specific - you'll get a good answer.

What do you mean "seo scripts" - are you talking about:
plugins for wordpress
plugins for joomla
plugins of any sort
automated article syndication software
linkbuilding software
firefox extensions
javascript menus
embedded flash photo galleries
html vs. php vs. .asp
ajax
rank reporting tools
page analysis tools
page optimizers
backlink checkers
server header tools
.....

The list goes on and on. All could be classified as "scripts" and could potentially be related to seo. Therefore, if you want a "basic" answer - search. Any of the thousands of posts here offer just that - basic answers.

If you want a real response - ask a real question.

I also agree, I just signed up today and posted some information that i found from the google team that i thought might be some use to some people but was immediately met and responded with hostility (despite one of the main moderators of this site agreeing with my post), even though a head mod agreed with my post , hostilities still kept coming! I know some of you have high expectations, but you must also realise that i PERSUME that 80% of people coming here have little, no, old experiance when coming to seo. Some guys in here need to get off their high horse and expand there minds to the fact they could be wrong and a newbie might have something worthwhile to say! Im currently putting another site together which includes Web hosting and SEO and am looking for a good forum for newbies, intermediate and professional people alike to be linked on my site.So far, despite this sites popularity im thinking in two minds to advertise this forum due to many of its elitist members and its treatment towards its new members! However many thanks to Dzine that does have the capacity to see outside the circle and understand what i was trying to explain!

I sometimes think that new posters think the main contributers of the forum have a crystal ball. If you ask a direct question then, if someone knows the answer they'll give you a comment.

'how do i do seo' isn't a good question to ask here, people here are offering something that elsewhere you'd be paying a professional to ask (of which some members are).

Basically the better quality the question, the better quality of answer. I've never had a problem and I've not been around here all that long
