I've never heard of such a tool and don't understand how it would work. I have people sucking my bandwidth too - especially a few people on ebay. I have countered this by keeping an eye open for accesses in my stats that do not generate a pageview. When I find one of these rats I change the image to something that will stink up their site/auction. ;-)

I don't know how it is done, but people change their images and when someone tryes to steal a picture, they end up with a box saying something like "you are a thief" or anything the webmaster wants.

The name of this kind of stealing is called hotlinking, I guess you could google it and check out the solutions.

There are many different techniques to achieving this goal.

1. You can get a spider protection script. I suspect you'll have to buy this. Basically it's a tool you'll add to each page, if it detects that a client is spidering your site, after X number of pages, it'll start rejecting them.

2. For each image you serve, use a hotlink protection tool. Basically a little script that ensures there REFER is your site.

3. There are some scripts that somehow mess with the time types, and serve the image via alt name / header redirect or something.

All in all, I suggest googling.

maybe this can help you, http://jeremy.zawodny.com/blog/archives/000826.html , it teaches how to use mod rewrite to display a different picture to the site that is using it without your permission.

Just put a right click menu on your site from dynamicdrive and it should stop all the amatures.
