In my experience no there is no need to register and host with the same company.
If you consider the way most large companies will work, they will register their domains with a company and may well look after their own servers in house (This is what we do).
So no you should register with the company that gives you the best deal (for my own non company sites I use Godaddy) and if you are looking for hosting I have always liked Hostgater (and more recently their SEO hosting service) I find the after sales service excellent.
Hope this helps.

Is there any relation between name server, hosting and SEO.
My doubt is: I have several domains registered with ICANN accredited registrars.
I can change name servers and point my domains to a host company... but this change will affect my ranking.
Is better to register and to host the domain with the same company? Example: netsol, godaddy and aplus.net?
thank you
