Do Search Engine Programs Hurt Your Ranking

Does the use of programs to check your ranking (i.e. Web Position Gold) hurt your rankings in the search engines?

No!

They may enhance it - but only with proper SEO in the intial stage.

TomED,

Are you sure your information is correct? Because using Web Position Gold to much will hurt you if not get you banned. If I was you I would start reading up on the latest product information before giving out false hope.

I'm not trying to be harsh on you but everyone needs to besure on what they are talking about before answering questions.

No hard feelings...

Thanks,

WPG2

I don't use it to submit or anything. I just use it to check the pages for ranking because it is so easy to do. If it can penalize me, is there an alternative?

Webposition running on your machines can get your location possibly banned. Just don't run it that often - how many times do you need to check anyway! And use the features that it has to be "nice to search engines".

Think about it...if your competitor could get your site banned by running Webposition on it everyday, it would be a great tactic, would it not?

Straight from googles guidelines!!!!

Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.
