Would Like To Hire Someone
Hello,
I target mainly the keyword phrase "Glow sticks". There are approx 1.7 Mill results for this in google. We are currently number 6 where we have remained for about 6 months now after a gradual climb. www.glow-sticks.org In the last 3 months I have gone from 100 links to 600 links, they are not all relevant links, but most of them are. I have hardly no links pointing to my internal pages. I have recently made my entire site static from php files to html so I'm hoping this will help. Would anyone here take on this job? No black hat of course. Look forward to any response on this matter. |

Londoner - why don't you zoom in on this map here...
http://www.frappr.com/seos ...if you want someone local or at least close by. Not all of them are bonafide, but I KNOW there are a couple of competent SEOs in the south of England sidenote: the warning came after that post LOL, but yeah. Also note I've been mild today

Rockyc,
No offense but your warning points are worrying me. As for wit's suggestion, i have just visted that site and should be able to find someone local. I have moved up to north-west now away from london, (southport) so if anyone from this area NW wants to get in touch (pm or whatever), please do. |

Just some quick things Londoner that will likely help convert more searchers to visitors and visitors to sales conversions. 1. All CAPITAL LETTERS is shouting on the web - and often cause people to "jump over your listing in results". 2. No need to repeat words [they don't help in ranking order] it also makes you look 'spammy'. A more elegant title than <title>GLOW STICKS GLOWSTICKS GLOW NECKLACES GLOW BRACELETS WHOLESALE UK FLASH STICKS FLASHING WHISTLES STRAWS CHEAPEST IN THE UK</title> might be <title>Wholesale Glowsticks UK: Necklaces & Bracelets @ Glow Sticks Org</title> NOTE: Google parses only the first 64 characters of your Title Element - thus any thing beyond is waste [my suggested is 64 chararcters.] Also IN & THE are stop words and not used for ordered results - there again waste title real estate. 3. As search engine stem words - glowstick and glow stick are not needed - pick one and use on that page and then target the other on another page. However, as I did above your website [possibly business name] is the separated words so recommend targeting the slam-together word and using on all website pages @ Glow Sticks Org as an elegant solution to capture both versions. 4. Over use of black on a commerical website is bad for business. I realize you are attempting to capture the "night glow effect" associated with your product but people understand the "glow aspect" or they wouldn't be looking for glow sticks. I "GUARANTEE" you will sell much more with a light [or white] background than black... and only changing this will most definitively increase your visitation to sales ratio.

Hi GlowMan
First of all I would say, really nice site. Reminds me of my childhood days where we were facinated with these glowing things in night.
Anyhow you should consider removing the ALL CAPS title, which will only inrease your rankings, and not decrease it. regards SeoHawk, India Last edited by fathom : November 15th, 2005 at 11:06 AM. Reason: 100 posts, 90 days and you will have a link! |

Change your title to what was suggested above or something similar. Give prominance to your keywords and stick the company name at the end. Don't repeat the term too much (twice is enough), and be as descriptive as possible.
Often changing the title tag alone, will improve rankings. Target your homepage for two or three terms and write content that uses those terms. Use other pages on yoru site to go after the other terms. Last edited by SanDiegoSEO : November 15th, 2005 at 03:25 PM. |

I cant agree or disagree if removing or adding CAPS will increase a site's ranking but it does look more professional when it's not all CAPS. I try to follow the AdWords guidelines when I work on page titles because they seem pretty solid. One of them being "Dont use all CAPS" so why wouldnt it apply to webpages?? |

Hi,
Some good feedback in the posts above - thank you. The reason I used caps was due to my competitors for the kw "glow sticks" using capitals too. I used to use lower case, which looks more pro, but when using CAPS I get more screen coverage and 3 lines for my description. I know this may seem silly, but when the sites around you are doing it and you have just a 2 line lowercase description then you can feel drowned out. Having said all that, I value your comments on here and I think I will change it to lowercase and see if my traffic increases or drops over the next 7 days. I will post the results on here if anyone is interested.

all caps may decrease the conversion rate.

actually once in the website the title element makes little different... prior to clicking in though will have a negative impact. If you are #1 many will click on "#2" cause of "appeal". |

Actually I would think that if most of the SERPs are using caps and your using lowercase than you would actually stand out more because of the visual difference. But I could be wrong. |
