You guys are halarious

That's pretty funny! Guaranteed serps position or your money back.

Unless you are in control of SERPs for the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) you can never guarantee results.

I have never failed to achieve a client's optimization goals (100% customer satisfaction) and all of my proprietary sites rank extremely well. However, I will never guarantee results. It's inane to do so.

Oh and by the way, the last time I checked the newspaper, radio stations, and television stations do not guarantee results on their advertising packageS. Shouldn't I be able to ask for my money back if not enough people read my little 1/8 inch ad in the paper or my 30 second spot that goes on at 2AM....NO I DON'T THINK SO. Shouldn't I be able to ask for my money back if my marketing consultant fails to maximize production of my sales reps. NO I DON'T THINK SO.

Honestly, I don't really care to hook my seo prospects with money back guarantees or super low pricing. I know that I can make a site rank well, and I encourage my prospects and clients to shop around. That way after getting ripped off or reaching a plateau with other other less effective firms, they appreciate what my firm can do that much more.

I charge a lot because my time is worth a lot of money. When I'm not working on a client's site I'm working on one of our proprietary sites so that they can earn even more monthly revenue.

Eventually, I will retire from SEO consulting (like all truly successful SEOs) because I make more than enough money of my own proprietary sites.

In the meantime, will I consider offering a money back guarantee? Hell no. I'm not a used car salesman and I my time is too valuable to work for free.

Your post is bordering on the absurd, to be honest. When you advertise in a newspaper, or on radio or TV for that matter, you are getting something tangible....namely, ad space. When you contract with a search engine optimization company, what you are paying for is results...period. My example about the restaurant was far more fitting.

Keep something in mind, people. Search engine optimization, for the sake of search engine optimization is useless. What you are paying for, is to move to the top of the search engines...period. Are you providing me with advertising space, or time when you optimize my website? Of course not, which is why your example is and always will be, absurd.

By the way, there are a good number of reputable search engine optimization companies out there that DO offer satisfaction money back guarantees. And, I do stress the word reputable companies.

whatever floats your boat

Like I said...you guys are hilarious.

All of my clients sites are in the top 10 (except for new clients that we've acquired in the last 2-4 months).
They are all happy.

I didn't have to offer a money back guarantee, because after shopping around (and getting burned by pretenders) my clients began to appreciate what we do.

As soon as I get a controlling share of GOOG I'll start offering money back guarantees.

Meanwhile, I'll keep working of my reputation, my references, and my results.

Good luck guys.

Remember the golden rule "to each his own".

Money back guarantee...that is really funny.

Hi I agree with hugoguzman,

If I went to a stock broker and asked him (or her:-)) to invest $1.000.000,- for me, I would not expect him(or her) to offer me a money back guarantee. What a client is paying for is not results, but for our hard work.

All good SEO are makeing websites better, and that is a good long term SEO strategy, nomatter what algo change might come in the future. When you only focus on the short term effects, then you might as well do cloaking, doorway domains, doorway pages, hide 50k of text and links on any page.

We have yet to have a disappointed client, but there has been a lot of clients that were worried the first months. SEO is very different from just pressing a button.
