One of the ultramarine web sites.
Let us take a look at:
webexhibits.org/pigments/indiv/ overview/ultramarine.html
it is a quality web page about the color pigment "ultramarine".

It is a page rank 6, has 15 Google backlinks, including a very quality Yahoo backlink.

It is ranking as number 3 for "Ultramarine", but it is also ranking as number 3 for "ultramarine -nigritude". Why is this page resisting the "nigritude ultramarine" web sites better than the top two "ultramarine -nigritude" web sites?

Does anyone have a comment? What can we learn from this?

This time I would like to take a look at sims.co.uk

They have a lot of good rankings.

#1 and #2 for ultramarine nigritude
#1 for nigritude ultramarine
#1 for ultramarine
#1 for nigritude

They have a lot of backlinks with the nigritude ultramarine link text, and they have a very high keyword density for the key words, but that can not be all. What other ranking factors are this website taking advantage of to rank as well for the listed keywords as they do?

Any comments, ideas, anything? :-)

The top 9 sites are pages on sites that existed before the competition started. I'm convinced that established sites do better in Google than brand new sites.

Do you think seniority is a very important factor in this competition? There are several old websites with good page rank and a nice amount of back link further back in the result pages. The moshbox.com nigritude ultramarine page is one and also the 2kmediat.com page is not doing that well.

For my part it is a set of NEW pages, NU pages never existed before the competition. Google works on page level, not site level. If I however (for some very stupid reason) converted 2kmediat.com frontpage to Nigritude ultramarine, I most likely would rank extremely well.

As for 2K's position, it's a bit early to say nothing for sure. So far the only real linkage have been internal links - outside links (like my signature below) are only starting to kick in (and as always, anyone's wellcome to give their piece of support ;)

Let me try to sum this up:

Age factors:
1. The age of the domain
2. The age of the page
3. The age of the backlinks.

Are you saying that the age of the domain is less important and that the age of the page is very important or is the age of the backlinks is the most important age factor ranking factor?

None of the domains in the nigritude ultramarine competition knew the competition word before anyone else so everyone started out equal when it comes to 3), some of the highranking domains and pages existed before, but many of the competiton pages are clearly new:
In the 3rd spot:
www.internet-marketing-research. net/ forums/ftopic7991.html
In the 4th spot:
lookupcars.co.uk/ nigritude_ultramarine.html
In the 7th spot:
www.applytools.com/ nigritude-ultramarine.html
In the 8 th spot:
nigritude-ultramarine-blog.blogspot. com/
And in the 9th spot we have a new domain:
www.nigritudeultramarines. com/

So I do not think page age is an important factor nor do I think link age is an important factor, all that is left is the domain age.

If you were trying to determine relevancy, wouldn't you look at all those factors, not just one. Their weightings could thus vary from case to case... I however doubt the importance of domain age. IMO page age is more important.

more real life: #19 out of 404 000 results...

Google jumps a lot for indexed pages, so be carefull when estimating the SERPS. We are keeping a track of Nigritude Ultramarine SERPS , so you can estimate legimit number of indexed pages from there...
