I'd love to help out. I'm struggling to consistently pick up new clients for my freelance Design/SEO business (WebPsychDesigns/SEO NC). You can reach me by PM here or by email at max dot bloom at gmail dot com. I'll send over my cv, some sample analyses, etc. I've even done a little consulting for some board members here.

I will leave your post MABDesign but you PMing the member asking for assisting makes greater sense.

Professionally "if" I asked for assistance and a public response came with the words "I'm struggling to consistently pick up new clients" - how much help are you going to be to me?

SEO isn't about spoon-feeding... if your own ability to market yourself is suffering by less capable ranks, media buys, existing customer referrals, public knowledgeable posts in forums etc...

how much worth are you?

Talking

Hmmm....while I agree with you Rod...it seems that my agreement comes from my over 30 years in business....that much exp in the computer world -- handling the prospecting for new clients, doing projects, collecting invoices...the list can go on and on -- anyways that kind of experience makes me nod strongly with your post.

but I also do realize, that there are many many competitors new to business, nevermind SEO, who don't as yet have the exp to be able to judge what to say and how to conduct themselves in a professional business way....hence, all honesty requires that I add this post.

MAB...the comments made are right on target, but I'm assuming here that you're new to SEO and business in general. PMing the querymaker is always the way to go for any type of prospecting...and that said, what you say and how you say it in a public forum should always be thought thru before you post a message.

I do not want to say that you aint' got a chance at this client, because maybe you do....but as Rod said....you must value your own worth in direct relation to what you appear to be here....which is most likely "new" to SEO and business.

Just my .02 and Canadian money too!

Jim

To add to this: jlthompson will not be in a position to PM anybody, since one needs a post count of at least 10 to be able to PM.

I'm not going to market myself like I'm the best thing since sliced bread. I'm going to be honest about things like the fact that I'm 20 years old, I've been studying and doing SEO work for several years, I know a lot, I work hard, and I've had good amount of success. I'll be the first to admit that there are other people with larger companies, higher profile clients, and more experience than me. But I'll add that most of them charge more than twice as much as I do. I'm not trying to attract clients out of pity, I'm simply marketing myself as what I am. I don't expect IBM to show up at my door asking for SEO help, but I'm betting that small to mid-sized companies will enlist the help of a knowledgeable 20 year old who works hard and doesn't charge much. So don't come down on me because I don't have a new client every day when I started my business about two weeks ago. If you're getting more business than me, then more power to you, but you've got no right to criticize me based on a single post. We all struggle at times, especially when embarking on a new business venture. I'm particularly offended by the mudslinging, especially in the middle of a post that, if you hadn't noticed, could bring me some more consulting work. You should be so fortunate as to not have anyone do that to you. Talk about being unprofessional. If you honestly thought that I was coming off sounding inexperienced, then you could have kindly sent a PM instead of trying to expose it in front of a prospective client/employer.

This is merely a pet peeve of mine and while my candor may be distasteful to you [and possibly everyone else for that matter]... your subsequent post was purely "self-promotion".

Let us be real here... the member's 'first post' and introduction to SEOChat [not specifically you] was answered by "solicit me"!

My "tact" [consideration in dealing with others and avoiding giving offence] is no less apparent than yours... and moreso, because you did yourself a real disservice.

To be perfectly clear - What if they never come back to read your post?

Are you really willing to sit back and wait for customers to come to you?

If you post "solicit me"... they will come?

My post had two purposes: First, I felt the need to defend myself against what I thought was an innapropriate critique. Second, I wanted to tell you that I thought you were acting like a real jerk. As I said before, if you thought that I was doing myself a disservice, then you couldn't have been less helpful by publicly making note of it. To answer the rest of your post, you're absolutely right that I'd answer a post soliciting SEO help by offering my own services. Was it naive? Absolutely not.

Mabdesign.
This is a public board.
The Op started a public thrad.
You posted a public response.
People posted a public response back on the public board.
If you would have wanted things keeping discreet that was upto you but it was you who initiated the reply.

Ant to be honest the reply was no better than the one post wonders that reply with ` Hire me i am 3 months into seoing and i have a client and i seo well for the sreps. `

If you are going to get offended by people offering you advice you are probably a bit soft at the moment which does show you are new to seo.
