Seriously.
Be careful of the people you choose to do your seo for you. THe first thing they should ask is if you really want to go for that keyword string. It is very targetted but you might need to look at your choice more. According to the overture keyword tool which is not that accurate but is an ok guide it only gets 54 searches a month. THis equates to about 20 visitors if you are at no.1 spot in my opinion. The `canada immigration` is not impossible but would be a lifetimes work to get a really good listing for and would cost an absolut fortune. You may wanna spend more time on keyword research becuse they may be a better keyword search string that is better. Niche is sometimes better and will bring traffic while you find out what the best keywords to go for. Good luck with your search Last edited by mick.sawyer : June 6th, 2005 at 02:26 AM. |

Hmmm....'canada immigration' might not be too hard, if the right focus is given. I didn't look at the site itself, but whoever does the SEO might want to try for some .edu and .gov links [a sorv / EGOL gig]. Throw in some linkvault / digitalpoint and let it bake for about 3-6 months and it might mesh
Mick makes a solid point on the choice of keywords though. What are you really trying to accomplish? Sell immigration guides? If so, some better keyword phrases could be used. Good luck! Cygnus

I did look at the site and i did look at the competition.
I wouldnt like to have to go for that keyword. If you look at no.1 as an example it has a whopping pr. You could normall say `with work you could be no.1` In this case i think it would be a near on impossibility without an enormous budget for links. Pr8 with 1500 bls showing and a lot of age behind it. I know he isnt looking for no.1 and just wants an organic listing which is top 10 or at worst top 20 but there is some serious competition there. With the keywords he wants and the low amount of traffic the keywords get he would need to be no.1 to get an roi for the money spent on seo, which would be a substantial amount. The seo firm that he has had a quote on couldnt give a guarantee of anything becuse of the dificulty of the keyword. |

no.1 in most cases doesn't give maximum ROI - but it should get more traffic than any other position.

Ya i know no3 is supposed to give killer results but no.1 is still the desired postion.

For PPC, I'd go for #3. For organic listing, I want to go for #1.

Things to remember:
1) Immigration Canada is a shoppers term, not a buyer's term. 2) Your site is not a shoppers site (most of the info is not of the self-help variety), but a buyer's site, i.e you want to do a call to action so folks hire you. 3) You should optimize for less competitive terms but which you know you already do business for. For example take a look at immigration law of canada statistics and see what most cases are based on i.e asylum, marriage, etc. and you can optimize for that. You might also want to look at what countries most applicants come from, and optimize for that as well. So if most applications are from Outer Mongolia, you might want to optimize content on a subpage for "Outer Mongolia Canada Immigration". 4) Having said all that, you can optimize for the term you have above, but it is going to take you lots of time (and lots of money on buying high quality permanent and temporary links) or even more time and energy if you are looking for pro bono high quality permanent and temorary links). |
