I'm constantly surprised by some of my pages that get backlinked. Often not the linkbait whatsoever. In some cases it's a random result of social bookmarking when someone books the last page they're on regardless of the content. Some of my sites get links back because of the quality of content overall, but that ends up in home page links, not deep links. I'll take 'em where I get 'em, but I think link building is the hardest part of SEO and if your products are of high enough value that you can show the ROI, it's worth getting an expert.
