SEO Grunt
I am not an overly experienced SEO person but I was wondering if there is a market out there for doing freelance SEO grunt work - directory submissions, one way link request emails, and identifying industry specific sites for linking partnerships or placement.
As I have found this is a lot of hard tedious work and I was wondering if anyone thought I could find work with this concept?

It is hard and tedious work and I know that many people don't wan't to do this type of work for this exact reason... However, I am not affraid of hard and tedious work. |

I've read some of your past posts and you have found great success in identifying websites for links and then sending a link request. Some people make a nice amount of money providing consultations of this kind or actually doing it for the client.
You might try posting a webpage detailing the type of work that you do and your rates and link to it in your sig line. Who knows.... you could be link development guru by this time next year. Lots of people are using the link development software that is right up there with spamming in my book. You have a nice personal approach - based upon human research - and I know for a fact that works best for getting the *highest quality* links. Your challenge will be working for the right kind of client... sites that have high quality content that folks would link to without reciprocation. You know what I am talking about, I am certain of that. Pick your clients carefully. Also, from reading your past posts I would probably hire you myself if I didn't already have someone helping me with this. My only suggestion is to market yourself in a much more positive way than "grunt"... that is not what you have done in the past. ... link building research and development. But be sure that you enjoy this work... fathom's post, I thought was accurate in almost every situation.

Thanks for the encouragement
I am still very new to the SEO business but thanks to posts from both of you (Fathom and EGOL) and many others on this forum and others I have deffinately learned a lot. I have been learning as I go and making adjustments to my strategy as I see them. I guess the term "grunt" is not a good descriptive term especialy if I wanted to market myself for a contract job. I do however enjoy the down and dirty researching and link building side of SEO and do it quite well. I still have a way to go with the HTML coding aspect but I'm learning. Again thanks to all of you for your educational lessons here on the forum and keep them coming... I need more info to sponge up! |

I really enjoyed reading this thread.
Emma, use only adjectives that describe yourself and your service in the best of light without being a braggard. I think you will do well. I would do what Egol recommends in your sig link. In addition, I would join many more webmaster/seo chat rooms and do the same thing. Once you get one or two from each to contract with you... you will have to turn away a lot of business and become very selective in adding clients. Good luck to you (you likely will not need luck... most people who are not afraid of work don't really need it).

Actually on that note [some great points SEO_AM] show me your abilities emmaonline [particularly in descriptive 'objective' writing for listings and best category selections] and I'll hire you for a volume of clients. Quality is more important than quantity [and this isn't a PageRank thing]. |

Emma... working for Fathom would be daunting and challenging. You will learn, grow and, hopefully, profit.
Fathom... you may have found a good one in Emma. |
