After a few months of it, I will take a test and will provide them with a certificate that they have practically worked on this which will add to their internship/experience. perhaps that might help them to settle down with a nice company.. Or may be they join one of your companiess Okay enuff of my dreaming.. Afterall educating others and sharing knowledge is good in my eyes, but right now just considering the possiblities.... I wanna know the feasibility of my plan.. Do you guys think I am capable enuff to go ahead (you guys know me better then i do myself), will it be good enuff as far as monetary benefits are concerned Is there anything special I need to take care off? Any special tips from u all? ofcourse client work will go on side by side.. Long term feasibility? Please help me with your Ideas.. Guide me the way.. Its the First Venture I am planning to start solely on my own and will perform my duties from the core of my heart and to the best of my knowledge..Ofcourse only if u all recommend.. In my opion, it is a nice idea. Thought, I remember there were several threads in this forum started by people who asked for something like this. As far as I remember, most reputable members of SEO Chat said that the best certificate a SEO can get is the reputation around this forums as well as their achived results.
I know what you want to do is slightly different because you'll get people from zero and teach them the most of SEO. What I'd be curios about is the recognition of those certificates you'd give to those who graduate. You'd need a status of high atuhority... hmm... this is what makes me think it could get complicated. I'd be interested to hear others opinions too.

Hmmm Nice point Sensei..
Actually the certificate thing would just an experience letter of kind of, to prove to anyone that this person has actually worked on this work and has this much experience.. Umm nice point yet again, i can plan to get an affiliation from some big shot company at a later stage.. that might build up the credibitlity..? So what according to u shud I particularly take care off..? |

The best reputation you can get for your project would be from the companies/sites your students would help to achieve good rankings. Then, step by step you could create a brand for your project and people among the SEO community will start to take your work seriously and maybe recommend you to those who want to start learning.
But again, I still believe the best way to learn is here, at SEO Chat and other places like this. I do not disclaim the good your project can make, I know there are lots of people to prefer the school style system instead of learning on their own, but I think you'll have to work a lot to succeed. Nothing is impossible and I wish you a lot of good luck Also, if I'll come up with any other ideas regarding this, be sure I'll let you know about them here ;). |

Hey LKS,
Congrats on this great decision...after all knowledge shared is knowledge gained Regarding the certification...umm...honestly speaking, I have doubts how much credibility will it carry. IMO, the certificate you'll be providing would carry greater value and recognition when your company/organization will hold a greater reputation in the search industry. Apart from that, make sure that you have testimonials from BIG names in the search industry endorsing your certification program or your knowledge and services. When you do start your training program, do include PPC stuffs in it as well....and don't forget to enroll me to a small correspondence training program of your's...would love to learn from you Well, had I been you, I would have first worked on building up my reputation to a greater level so as to attract attention from reputed search marketers and marketing organizations before I would have started any training or coaching services. We all know how good you are..but does others know of it as well...? I think that's the most important part of it. I congratulate you once again for taking this gallant decision...and please don't hesitate to drop me a line if you feel that I am worthy enough of helping you to any extent. Good luck mate

Hi, I am new here but would like to share some of my thoughts on this. hope you wont mind .First, its really a great idea. Though places like seochat are great for learning but there are people who like to have the teaching in a structured form. So while planning your class, make sure to make it in structured format starting from very basics to advance strategies. Divide your class in lessons and bring one or two new lessons every week. Make sure to give enough time for understanding each lesson before going to next one. Each lesson should be associated with some homework and take quizzes for each lessons. You can also design it in a way where one have to pass quiz of a lesson before going the next lesson. Dont worry much about certification. People will join your course primarily for learning and not for certification. if they get solid knowledge and learning they can develop their own credibility as well as credibility of your certificate. Knowledgeable graduates will be the source of reputation and credibility for you. Regards |

On the opposite end of the spectrum is someone like me. My site ranks #5 for the same term search engine optimization training at Google and I conduct about one training a month. Now I have no desire to do all of the work Search Engine College is doing but no doubt there are opportunities to compete in this niche especially locally or regionally. Perhaps a strategy somewhere in between what they are doing and what I am doing will work for you. Best regards...Europa
