Good Morning,
I would like to ask for some assistance/guidance. We are a small (soon to be medium) size company looking to optimize our website. Our web designer has done a great job on set up, but our site lacks the tools, links, and I'm sure several other items to generate the business or presence we should have. We have looked into hiring a company to optimize our site, but have only come across cookie cutter programs. With no interest in a personal commitment or responsibility for our success. What I am looking for is an individual who will take a personal interest in our marketing/web presence/ranking and success. A professional who will have the ability to understand our business and our competitors. Then put a plan/ design together to optimize our site accordingly. I would welcome any suggestions as to where I should look or advertise. The amount that would be fair compensation for initial and ongoing assistance. Any recommendations would also be appreciated. Thank You, Rickard Briggs www.nationalmanagement.net Last edited by dazzlindonna : September 3rd, 2004 at 09:43 AM. |

Hi Rickard and welcome to SEOChat.
Your website is 100% flash, so there is no natrual way to SEO it. It looks nice, but from a SEO point of view your web developer has done a terrible job. I would normally recommend creating a new website.

In fact there is... Flash MX / MX2004 offers so called accessibility features. They offer means to provide a textual summary or alternative presentation for accessibility disabled users / non-visual user agents. However, I agree that this doesn't in most cases fullfill the goals os SEO needs. Making a totally new site is pretty vain. You have a nice flash site, it's just needs an alternative HTML-based version next to it. It's good for disabled users and it's good for bots. So go for it!

Yes there is a way with Flash!
Google now indexes and ranks flash .swf files / sites in its normal SERPs. You can download the macromedia SDK which gives you a search engine eye view of the flash file and can optimisimse acordingly. I would still recomend doing a traditional html based site to optimise for the search engines though. I would be happy to undertake both jobs! |

That's not really true... just a different approach is needed. Search engine can parse the link and text content of the site... (well Google thus AOL and Netscape) the greatest problem the website is "smallish".

Incorrect...Google is now able to fully index flash sites. Check out the jimworld forum (sorry can't remember the post) or just go to Macromedia's site. I'm sure the rest of the SEs will follow, but for now it looks like google is ahead of the game...as usual |
