READ THIS! Regarding thread about hiring an SEO Expert from a 3rd world country

Ok, this is going TOO far. Here is the deal for ALL of you who have posted or read my previous thread looking for an SEO expert, but not from a 3rd world country. I may not know site design or SEO (which is why I am here to hire an SEO expert), but I do know multi-cultural business.

WALLSTREATER - I received your email and I checked out your reference site. Yes, it has a PR of 5, ranks #10/11 for a very difficult KW, #9/14 for a difficult KW phrase and #1 for two poorly searched phrases. But, the site is 3 yrs old. How can you prove to me that this is indeed HIS work, do you have any proof to back this up? Can I contact the site owner for a letter of verification? Did he work this project for 3 years? How much time did he actually spend on it and how did it rank before he started?

You quoted me as saying that because someone is from a third world country, they don't know SEO. My statement was NOT directed at their knowledge of SEO, it was directed at my risk of doing business with them. Please re-tract your statement.

You also state that this expert you know has a non-disclosure agreement. A non-disclosure agreement would pertain to business secrets within the same field and it will almost always include a no-compete agreement. My business is not in the same field and I do not compete. Unless they have him under an employment contract which clearly states he is not to perform any work outside of their contract, then they will have no problem with providing any references and verification! So, don't tell me the opposite. If he is wrapped in an employment contract (not to be confused with an independant contract), then I am not interested in contracting him.

Your statement regarding me - "He is from Thailand yet he doesn't trust people from 3rd world countries. He just criticized himself" I think the word you are searching for here is "CONTRADICTORY". You obviously did not receive your education in the U.S. I am NOT contradicting myself! My product comes from Thailand, I was born & raised in Nebraska and lived in SanDiego for 8 years! (yes, I saw that your area code is 619, San Diego for sure) I am an American living in Thailand to produce my product. If I was contradicting myself, I would still be living in America. This would indicate that I am TRUSTING the Thai people to produce my product without my direct supervision. However, I do not trust them with my work without my direct supervision. So, I have moved to this country, opened a small factory, established a business in MY name and under MY direct supervision and I have hired a well respected Thai Attorney who also studied law in the U.S. to manage the legal exposure of my business in this country.

SO, WHY DON'T I WANT TO HIRE SOMEONE FROM A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY? - If I hire someone from the U.S., I will have zero risk involved. I will require a signed & notarized agreement. I will verify their location & identity. If they do not adhere to their agreement, I will have legal recourse. In any court of any U.S. state, I can enforce that agreement and I will have all legal tools available to fully recover my losses. My business is made up of two separate companies, one in the U.S. and one in Thailand. This being said, the ax can swing in both directions. The SEO expert I contract will also have this secuity if I do not uphold my payment terms of the agreement.

SEO AM - I know you agree with me on this one.

incdeveloper - You cannot fake your residency. We're not just talking about a few dollars here. Any good business person who is prepared to spend the money for your services will want to speak with you directly by phone. This will verify your exact location AND skype cannot help you on this one. Any business contract would be signed and "NOTARIZED" by a notary public in the U.S. Sorry, you can't get by that one. Yes, it is a shame that in this world we are sometimes forced to overlook the best talents due to geographical conflicts.

PayPal offers an escrow service whereby the funds are held by a third party (the fiduciary). These funds are held until the product or service is delivered. To me, this is a viable solution for dealing with a lack of trust associated with geographic conflicts. Personally, if a SEO Expert from a 3rd world country is qualified and his/her price is acceptable, I would be comfortable with this approach.

fathom - I could not agree with you any more on the "bait and switch" comment. In my opinion, SEO IS marketing in and of itself, isn't it? So, someone tell me why an SEO expert cannot know how to market himself, a product he knows more than anything else!

NOW, I know that it is difficult for any SEO Expert to risk their own time and energy to work on a contract that will guarantee exact SERP. I am not asking for a guarantee in any way, exact resuls can only be speculative and we all should know that. However, we can discuss in detail exactly what actions are to be taken in hopes of high ranks. These actions and a complete job description can be written into any contract. In addition, payment terms will be included. This contract would be fully enforceable IN THE U.S. to protect BOTH parties.

Finally, I did search high and low for a good SEO Expert in Thailand as well, since I would also have no risk in this country with my Thai Attorney and business here to enforce any claim. However, I cannot find anyone with any measurable talents for the job at hand in Thailand.

Back to the subject at hand, I still need an SEO Expert, preferrably FROM THE U.S. If anyone has the time for this and the qualifications, I am more than serious. This would be a freelance job, independantly contracted. side note: For all of the SEO Experts... Any successful business has two primary components, SALES & MARKETING AND A GOOD PRODUCT OR SERVICE. They both weigh equally. You are an integral part of any business for internet marketing and sales. However, if there is a tangible product involved or a service not related to the internet, then you must accept the fact that the service or product provider is equally important.

I just pmed u , and my seo finallygot permission to show the site off to potential clients only. By the way its now top 10 easily as of today. Maybe now my word will at least amount to a grain of salt. I will also get to go for seo projects with clients that will allow him to show off his work. I know most wont do that but i think as long as its done in a professional way, its possible. You now have all the info u need in pm. I can say no more. It is completely verifiable now as long as ur discreet about it

Oh.... i had already told you that you can got a service called voice -over-ip or voice-over-internet, what that make you is get a phone number in what ever place in the world and then forward that phone to one phone to almost any place in the world...

Please make you homework before posting this type of stuff, i work in IT and i know many was to do it.

You've been peddling the same storyline for over a year. It gets real tiresome. Just wondering if you have anything else to say. I could publish the website url in this message (and the name of the guy) but I think there are rules against that.

Not that this has much to do with the current conversation, but Paypal doesn't offer an escrow option. It's one of my pet peeves as they're the only guys I trust with my money, but I often have to take work from clients unknown to me with little or no guarantee that I'll actually be paid.

That may work for a programmer, but I'm a freelance writer. It'd be damnably hard to enforce my copyright if a client decides to simply scarper with my hard work and stiff me. Depending on the size of the project, the hassle involved with taking it to court is probably more trouble than it's worth.

That's why I prefer to use escrow services for the larger projects. I find it much easier to write creatively when I don't have the worry of getting ****ed around hanging over my head. Still, I get paid so damned much that I probably wouldn't even notice a missing cheque. I can't believe I'm allowed to do this for a living. I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop. A phone call from God, perhaps:

'Ahem, I'm sorry Mr Taylor. There's seems to have been a mix up in the Admin Department. It seems you got the job satisfaction of five people by mistake. Normal service will resume shortly.'

There should be a level of trust when doing business with a company. As a business, why would you want those customers that are simply a headache all the time??

I only take a few clients on at a time since I do have a full time job, and my prices, I've been told are higher then most, Monthly payment plans work great, and including a buy out policy in your contract, lets the client legally get out of any contract at any time.

Ofcourse there will be those one off clients that all of hte sudden the relationship turned to , but learning what clients you want and what clients are not worth your time is the biggest part in being successful long term.

This thread is pointless, and stupid. In this business you cant trust, people this days only want money and money, and this not only applies to 3rd world countries it applies to all the countries in the world, its true some laws can be applied in some countries but now this days you may get a better coder or artist, or whatever in some place that is not around your city or country.

Ordered a hand painted portrait of my wife and I on November 21,2006 and they emailed me on Dec 17th, 2006 stating that the painting is finished, I looked at the picture and everything looked okay, but they needed to make a couple adjustments. My wife then recieved another email proof a couple days later, and gave them the okay to send it out.

Three and a half weeks later, still no painting. I have been calling and emailing them several times a day, but they will not answer their phone, or respond to my emails. I am fed up with these people, and I am about to call the credit card company and report fraud. If you google them, you will find numerous complaints on them.

It would be hard to sue, or have them arrested because they work in a 3rd world country, but I can sure make their life a living hell, and get them close to going out of business. I love the internet, just go to as many blogs etc... cut copy paste, and everyone can see it.

I am also going to dispute my credit card, take that money, and start up a cheap web page, and submit it to all of the search engines. I am sure I will make money with adwords, because I will put some honest portrait painting companies on there. anythingoncanvas.com I will make your scam a** life a living hell.
