Partnership wanted...if possible

We are a website design and marketing firm located in Virginia USA.

I have contacted the top 3 SEO companies listed on google trying to discuss a partnership with them.

It seems they are too busy, not interested, don't need the work, etc.

Is it possible to partner with a strong SEO firm and work together?

Should I just hire a full staff for SEO and not worry about a partnership?

Does anyone have any ideas? :-D

Hi proimpulse,

And welcome.

It might be best to train your current designers and/or programmers on how to build a search engine friendly site. It will save you time and money.

SEO is real simple and can be learnt by reading articles, forums (like this one), going to seminars, and buying some fundamental books.

This site is really not about forming partnerships. If you see any particular members you like in this forum, feel free to PM them with your request.

Hi ProImpulse

I agree with RustyBrick, however it can be useful to have an SEO focussed team member to evaluate sites periodically and to monitor their performance.

While it may be simple to create a site with the basic SEO elements in place I find that the majority of web developers don't do this. The sites are usually visually excellent but not SEO.

I can appreciate your desire to work with a local firm but if you can't find anyone in your own city then geography becomes less relevant.

I'm in New Zealand and there are 2 key benefits of working with a New Zealand team (given that the quality of the work is the same)
* A good NZ chargeout rates converts into a cheap US chargout
* work can be completed "overnight"

Our language and culture is remarkably similar to the US so there are few problems in working together.

Needless to say I'd be interested in talking to you about some sort of collaboration.

Sarah

I suggest that you test various contenders by asking them how they would approach the SEO of a given site, such as your own; how long it would take etc. You will find that they will have many different approaches and many will work equally well (nobody really knows); you will also see the ones who are not up-to-date with the latest quirks of Google and other engines.

There isn't a simple formula "to SEO a site". Sometimes you need to overhaul the site architecture, change a content management system's operation, write content, adjust headers, use CSS, toss out or hide Javascript, rename files, etc etc. This is why giving a specific test site to the potential partners will help you to shortlist. Then you have the usual business and "chemistry" issues to address.

You will find many SEOs around the world who have US customers - matter of population and confidence in working with remote suppliers. Most of my work comes from the US.

I agree with crm911, I am running a website by myself where I basically do everything because it is a two men's show, Me and my wife, we do the programming, concept planning up to SEO all by our self’s.
Our website is one where a high ranking on specific keywords is very important too and therefore I spend a lot of time to the subject SEO in the past two years.
We create concepts and websites for our customers who are then taken automatically in our SEO services for the time of one year.
The reason why I tell this all is that I think to know where I am talking about if I say that real SEO is changing all the time and it is very time consuming if you want to do it seriously. Many people out there offer you such services and even guarantee you on every keyword a first place but watch out; a lot of them collect only the monthly fees. I would promise anything because I know this depends on to many issues.
Furthermore if you have already good website programmer it is not necessarily a good idea to order them to do more on CEO unless they have a lot of spare time. The second choice you may have is to select carefully people like me and the third choice is to go to professional companies who are doing nothing else as CEO, I think there are two or three serious ones who are doing a good job on that for a 2 or 3.000 us$ a year.

Best Regards and a happy NewYear to all of you.

Jan
