YOu need to change the content SOME if you want to rank and are not yet ranking. Your home page needs to have 250-400 words of keyword supporting content on it. Right now it has ZERO. Your category pages NEED to have content on them, right now they have ZERO. The titles of your pages need to have KEYWORDS in them not your company name.
For some reason, so many clients want top seo rankings without changing their site. If your site could get top rankings without changing it, it would already have them. YOu need to worry less about user experience, and more about SEO if you want SEO traffic. Otherwise there will be no users to experience the site. When you're ready to make changes to your site that will both focus on conversion AND search engine ranking, then and only then should you be searching for SEO service. - Jeff Carpenter SanDiegoSEO@Gmail.com |

I have to say I think you're far oversimplifying the matter. Of course on-page optimization is important, but it certainly isn't everything, and its value greatly changes across different SE's. There are lots of cases when a site may have nearly perfect on-page optimization, but still fail to rank well because it doesn't have enough inbound links (especially when it comes to high volume keywords). Conversely, there are also sites (particularly on Google), that rank quite well but are poorly optimized on-page.

I was simply letting him know, that if he's not willing to change things on his site, he shouldn't consider organic SEO and means to build traffic.

On page vs. off page
With few exceptions most competitive categories require both on and off page optimisation.
I wouldn't be so prescriptive about needing 250-400 words. |
