Hi
Looks like a fairly competative search term. I would love to quote you for this and do the work for you but I just don't have the time until mid - late january and I would guess this probably wants to be done before christmas. Let me make a couple of suggestions that will help you out and won't cost you anything! Get links to your site and make sure that the link (anchor) text is your keyword eg "gift registry" The more links pointing to your site with this text in the link the higher your site will rank for it. To help you find links search for "gift registry"+"add url" this will identufy relevant sites that may accept a link exchange. List on directories such as Yahoo! DMOZ (www.dmoz.org) - find relevant paid directories by searching for "gift registry"+"directory" Also, if your budget can stand it hire a link from a high PR relevant site for two - three months. Make sure your page title is your keyword. Use the keyword in the body of the text. Link internaly to other relevant pages. Make sure your code is nice and clean and you will be well on your way. It is a bit time consuing and tedious but the rewards will be worth it. I hope this was helpful. |

Well the sites in the top 5 or so for "gift registry" have between 4,000 and 59,000 inbound links
getting 4,000+ inbound links would probably be the first step I would recommend you probably wouldn't want to hire someone unless they had a plan to build that many links Last edited by ferret77 : November 1st, 2004 at 09:17 AM. |

Start with the Free Directories, then paid directories, start buying links, keep your outgoing links to the minimum, make sure your website is SEO friendly, has lots of content, keyword density is good. And you would be close I am sure.
Needs lot of work, but I am sure it will be worth the time/effort/resources.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I appreciate it. I have submitted to dmoz about a month ago and have not been listed yet. Should I resubmit again or just wait. 4000 links sounds like alot. Is that pretty common amongst websites?
Thanks, Joe |

don't hold your breath on getting into dmoz, unless you are friends of an editor
4000 links isn't that many for a competitive term, its pretty common actually |

I checked into the google search for gift registry + add url and a lot of those directories use dmoz. Would it hurt if I resubmitted to domz or should i just wait it out. If so, how long? Thanks,

Just wait with DMOZ - if it has been a month send a friendly email to the editor asking how it is going.
4000 links is quite a lot but as is mentioned - not that many for competative keywords. Use good quality sites for link partners |
