Looking for an SEO for help with my website

I actually just found this website and I've been sitting here for about 3 hrs going through all this new info. Basically i launched an e-commerce website.

I was to be a part time venture, something I wanted to make about $1k monthly on as I have a great full time job but these days 1 source of income is not the best way to go. I found out that promoting a website and back links, google, etc. is a lot to take on so I figured it might be easier paying someone for their advice since I dont have the time to devote to it, especially since this is supposed to be a part time venture anyway.

I am looking for a SEO to which i could pay monthly. ANY advice would help from anyone or recommendations as well. I may not even be in the correct section of this forum but I'm sure if I'm not, someone will let me know. The only company I've come across is berankednumber1.com but i dont wanna waste any more time.

Has anyone heard of these guys? Do they seem legit to any of you? Can anyone recommend a similar company? Like I said i'm completely new to these, though I have done some poking around.

AFAIK, SheerSeo.com is a software to monitor your ranks.. Not for SEO jobs..

I tried it and it's a scam. Let me repeat, berankednumber1.com is a total scam.

Here's how: they set up an adwords account and post ads to google using your site name and a few cheap, non-sales producing keywords, then email you and say, "Look, you're number 1." Notice they don't use your high traffic, good converting expensive keywords. But these ads are worthless, deliberately poorly worded so that no one will click on it. (The ad copy itself is just the keyword repeated over and over!) After all, they're paying for it. They make money by taking the difference between what you pay and what it costs them (very little) to run a lackluster, neglected adwords (or yahoo, etc) campaign.

Very cleverly worded copy which brings out the idiot in people like me. Like, "We won't do anything the search engines don't like," which is true, because they don't do ANYTHING with the search engines. You think they'll optimize your site, but then you find out it's all sponsored ads that run a few times on page 1 for that useless keyword so they can justify the scam. And let me tell you, check on your position in those ads in a couple of days: pretty soon you're on page 4.

They're not out there trying to get you clicks, they're trying to NOT get you clicks THEY have to pay for, and they're good at it. Very clever.

And if you complain, they say, "Gosh, we have no control over that. That's google's fault. See, we got one of your keywords on page 1, just like we said we would."

Caveat emptor, these guys are slick. Good scam!!!

If your website is making $1000 per month what type of budget are you looking to pay the SEO per month? You may get some people responding to your offer then.

Sounds like you don't have much on this website, don't have much time, and don't have much money to pay someone.

Here's the straight shot... you want to make $1000/month out of what?

What do you have already in place on this site that is absolutely unique and owned by you?

If your answer to that is "nothing" then I, or anybody here, could slap up the same crap and make whatever you pay us plus whatever you would profit. We could probably make more because we would not need to twist your current site into what is needed. We would build from scratch and outperform. That's the problem with building first and getting SEO second.

Nobody is going to promote "air" for you because that doesn't make money. So, without fantastic content or unique product already in hand you don't have anything worth spending your money on.

You will make more money at McD's... or better, work overtime at that great job.
