Is there a "real" SEO company
Hi everyone,
I own a small website (a dozen of pages) that has a pagerank of 2 and is present on the first google results page for almost all our keywords. Without any special SEO work. The other websites I "compete" with are all small and I don't believe it would be too hard for a real professional to put my website as the number one. For the moment I have been looking on websites such as getafreelancer.com or rentacoder.com but everything I get is offer for articles submission to search engine. I have been checking these coders' profiles and every-time I look at a project they handled before, the website has a lot of backlink but a zero pagerank. So I am not very keen to let these people dealing with my website and would consider hiring a real SEO company, even if it will be more expensive. There are plenty of micro companies claiming to be SEO experts but is there some recognized SEO company? Known for there results and serious? Thank you by advance for helping me. |

I am sure that there are a few skilled SEOs offering their services at these sites... but there are probably plenty who will promise anything and deliver nothing.
Lots of the "real" SEO companies don't take clients because they are too busy with their own sites. Why should they make other people a lot of money when they can get all of the rewards for themselves. Here is what I have done when I needed help with SEO. I visit forums like this one and watch who has high reputation and gives lots of great advice for free. Then I imagine... "What would this person deliver if he/she were paid." Here you have a chance to preview competence, style, methods and persona. I've never been disappointed getting assistance from these types of people. For starters you can click on "members" sort by reputation... you will find several people on the first page who accept clients. Expect to pay them more than they can make by working on their own sites. In your situation you might want to ask about the difficulty of the turf you plan to attack. Like you, I've thought that it would not be hard to get #1 for a particular term... some of those can turn out to be very difficult. It depends WHO you are attacking and who you get to do the job... and how much you are willing to spend on the fight.

Why is that?
One idea from a cleaver person can haul in a lot of dough... an hour or two on the phone with someone can send you away with a very long "to do list". I've gotten paid help from a few people that I met in forums. Optimization, conversion, analytics, usability, linkbuilding, programming.... and lots more. Anybody who thinks he knows it all is delusional and anyone who says he knows it all is a freeking liar. Anybody who never gets outside advice is not living up to his full potential. Find one smart person and get their "review and recommend"... then find another and do the same... you will be hard to beat if you do that regularly and well. |

You misunderstood me, I believe in you, and I read and learn with passion every your post, but this sounded like introduction to "How to find me". That's what I didn't liked.
Excuse me again. |

There are several people who post here who do not run an SEO company or do outside work for others. I am one of those. I work only on my own sites and for a couple of clients who live near me.

I asked this same question about 3 months ago when I was looking for a decent SEO consultant from the UK to help us with a review of our sites activity. Gary the Scuba Guy cam recommended, and we used him, with promising reults. Certinaly gave us lots to work on, but only time will tell how effective the advice was.
Overall though, I'd recommend his services to others in the same position. |

Out of the members list that are 'REP'ed' well ONLY EGOL, SEO_AM, and Myself don't work for others... ... I would ask any of the others on memberslist page one... even if they don't really run a SEO business... Anyone can claim they do SEO, and claim they can get results... and anyone can build a website that says those things but they are equally still a risk... less risky is anyone that regularly posts here, and got the respect of the membership through their rep'ed posts - these are not self-serving "claims"... This is shared knowledge, skills, experience without any form or expectation of compensation... Additionally, non-SEO [not currently client oriented] will likely do a better job and for much less -- their time isn't sent servicing others or looking for others to service -- both of which are issues of an active SEO consultant or firm. Your very best return would likely come from a kid that desires an income... - pay him to learn SEO 'from here' and implement what they learn for your domains... Faith is an excellent example of how quickly a part-time newbie can learn and implement to solid results... she joined January 29th, 2007 and in top 10 August 31st, 2007... A dedicated newbie could do that same thing in 1-3 months.

Egol definately wasnt plugging himself, and he is one of the people that you should listen to. Even if he was plugging himself; 5000- 6000 posts, 50 points on rep and a long standing membership on this forum should allow him to promote himself without anyone batting an eyelid Hope you find a decent SEO person. (Not me, cos i aint got a [censored] clue about SEO)
