I think that a lot of the top SEO and online marketers make more money out of selling books - ebooks and conferences telling people how good they are rather than doing any actual work!
They can also charge ridiculous amounts for consulting.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I think some of the best SEO minds do post here and in some other forums. They may not be the 'best' in terms of wealth and positioning, but I think a lot of us are among the most knowlegable and up-to-date in the industry. You have to be HUNGRY to be the best, and that's exactly what all of us are - HUNGRY.

by the way, I was kinda peeved to find out that I can't use an Avatar, even though I've got 100 posts. I understand the reasons and all, I'm just miffed cause I was so excited about having my avatar up... oh well, guess I'll just have to wait til November
