How much does SEM/SEO specialist get at an agency on average?

I know this varies, but for someone who works for a typical SEO agency full time (not management) - managing PPC campaigns and running link building campaigns, social media etc - what is a typical salary?

You might like the results of this industry survey conducted recently by the folks at SEOMoz.

I think that number is continuing to increase. You might find higher salary/better benefits as an in-house SEM at a non-agency, just depends on what you want to do. If you're looking to learn and gain experience, then the agency may be the way to go.

Swirleigh agrees: More money definately inhouse, but you are completely on your own dealing and with the client
yourself.

In London, you could start under £20k, rising to £25-35k for SEOs with a couple of year's experience. You could earn £45k+ in a senior managerial position.
