How Much

What’s the going rate per hour that a seo would normally charge? I ask because someone has asked me to help them, and I’m not doing it for love so I said I would charge, problem is I didn’t know how much to quote. The work will involve tidying up some messy code, re-typing some code which was originally Microsoft’s finest!, sorting meta tags, header tags, page linking, anchor text and maybe a small bl campaign. Any ideas?
Thanks

I agree!

I am redoing a site for someone. They paid BIG bucks to a person who called himself an "SEO" but his work was not worth a damn.

So, low quality SEO has negative value because the website owner will have to pay a second time to get it done properly.

Ask what you think you would earn per hour if you were doing work of your own. If you have made ten cents per hour working on your own sites then that is what you should charge. If you are making really big money from your own sites then maybe you should stay working for yourself.

I don't normally work for others but have one arrangement where I get 1/2 of the affiliate income.... another where they have given me pages on their site to operate a small specialty store. The better job I do at getting their sites ranked and keeping them there the better my income. I am lucky with both of these sites because they generate most of their own PR by having super content or relationships that brings in links.

Thanks for the info. I have decided to charge a one off fee. I just hope I get all the work done within the time scale I have set my self! If not, it’s my own fault.
