Google Penalty for Automated Keyword Lookup Tools?
Hi,
I'm considering signing up for a service such as SEOMoz in order to automate the process of looking up keywords. I am not looking for "secrets" I've just (fortunately) reached the point where it's just too time consuming for me to lookup all the keywords I need to check for my clients.
However I was under the impressions that if you use an automated keyword ranking check keyword tool, that there may be a Google penalty? Is this accurate or just a rumor?
Thank you!

Google could care less what keyword research tools are being used; SEOMoz or otherwise. Their main concern is if you were to automate access to their (Google's) data centers.

Thanks -- but what do you mean about Google's data centers?
In theory isn't SEOMoz automatically looking up keywords, which is automated access to Google's data center -- at some level?
Thanks.

You need to use a rank checking tool that you can use proxy servers with. It is against Google's terms of use to auto-query their data centers.
