Google - No Descriptions

Hi there,

One of my sites has been on google for about 2 months and has slowly been increasing in page ranking and number of pages ranked during the past 2 months.

All of a sudden the majority of the product pages have had their description, cache removed and also the title is replaced by the URL.

I understand that these have been partially indexed but is there any reason why and is it possible to try and fix it?

The product pages are all one page (product.asp) with a variable passed to it (?the_id=273) to tell the database which product to display.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

This is the problem. Google get rid of dynamic "id" content over time not to litter its base with duplicate content dynamic pages often have. So you'd remove any "id" parameters from your URLs and the ideal variant should be taking advantage of mod_rewrite to make you pages look like static for SE.

Thanks for your swift reply. We have a dedicated windows ASP reseller server. Will this mod_rewrite work on this type of server? I understood that this only worked on Apache Servers.

If not, is there a ASP windows equivalent? Any chance you could post your email so we could talk about this more?

Thanks.

mod-rewrite is an Apche tool. It won't work on IIS. Look for ISAPI Rewrite. It is the same tool for IIS, more or less.

This should help you with doing a URL rewrite filter for IIS:
