Hello all, I come in peace. I am a sales associate for an internationally acclaimed jewelry factory and have been placed in charge of our internet sales and marketing. Part of this requirement is that I perform SEO to increase our sites viability in the major search engines, primarily in the USA and the EU. I need to increase or provide a ROI on the site that was called into action by my superiors ... When site was designed SEO was not in mind, and as we all know, out of site, out of mind. And that's why I need to perform SEO.

To begin you will need to research keywords that will be used, the competition for those keywords and the searches per month.
Once you have selected your keywords Optimize your site for said keywords.
Begin link submissions using directories, article submission, community sites like digg. also try aboutus.org and similar sites.
Contact other webmasters who have similar, but non-competing sites sites and request return links.
Write articles for your site, provide content that is useful and that users that may not be searching to buy jewelery may find useful. For example write about "diamonds"
