Ok, you own sites, or you manage sites for clients. Great. Then one day, you get run over by a truck. No problem, you've got your will done already and all is well. Your heir inherits your internet business, so he/she is taken care of. But wait! Does your heir know how to access your accounts? Domain names, hosting companies, affiliate logins, etc. If not, it can be a harrowing experience trying to get all of that information so that he/she can keep the business going. Sure, your heir can hire a professional to keep everything running smoothly - but SOMEONE needs to know how to access everything. Do you have that info handy for them? If not, don't leave them in a lurch. Get it all put together, and make sure that info is safe somewhere (maybe a safety deposit box or something), ready to be given to your heir when necessary.
Today's morbid but useful tip brought to you by dazzlindonna.

Yeah... I made a doc on cd with all my important stuff. Password protected.
Very usefull for... humm... bad events, but also good for forgotten info and lost cookies that resets your access... Excellent suggestion DD |

If they had access. But my sister knows all my passwords, well most of them anyway. If her jacka$$ for a husband didn't basically make her get rid of her computer she would still be my partner. I am hoping one day she will say the hell with what he thinks and come help me out again.

Never thought about that before. I suppose I should really do something about it since I control a load of client websites. |

Hi,
Wow, death! What a serious topic. My wife and I run our company together, so she already has all of the information. To be honest, she does most of the real work. I goof off, play computer games and spend too much quality work time on forums like this one. I must make sure she is passing on all the info I would need in case the worst might happened. If we both die in a plane crash I have no idea who would run the company. I guess or websites would eventually be deleted our host, since we are not around to pay the bills :-/ Our clients would drop out of the rankings and go bankrupt.

I cant be certain, but I think death releases you from your contractual obligations.
I don't know about you guys, but if Im dead, Im going to be busy trying to persuade the big man to let me through his pearly gates (as the choir boy said to the bishop), and not worrying about the performance of my nigritude ultramarines! My wife would have to get a proper job. I'll leave a note for her in a safe deposit box with the number of the local McJob recruitment hot line....!! PS. Don't tell her I said that, she'll lock me in THAT room, again. |
