Consultant seo required

Hi, everybody
I am new to this forum but enjoying it lots. I have an e-commerce site approx 6 months old, started Nov 2004, got out of sandbox mid April ranked #14 for my most competative keyword on google, dropped out of top 1000 three weeks later. The site has exceeded wildest expectations income wise (addwords-overture etc) but I now feel that I need some profesional advice.
Would love for somebody to look at site and point out all the mistakes with a view to improving organic ratings.
I live in Sheffield (UK) so would really like local:ie within 100 miles seo person to contact me to help improve the website. All round seo knowledge would be appreciated. I am expecting to pay going rate for expert ongoing advice
and would appreciate Pms with details.

Windsor -

Yours is one of the better requests I've seen - good job. Be cautious to investigate those who reply to you - it may be wise to seek out those posters whose advice and posts you enjoy and contact them directly in addition to soliciting in this manner.

Oh, and don't forget - they should be charging $19 ;)

Thanks for that. I have worked out the currency conversions, and now know that I should be paying approx £10.00 uk sterling.
So-now that I know how much it will cost all I need is somebody to pay.
I have looked around and have been scared off by comments like...."we never reveal our methods" and we can get #1 results for four word phrases on MSN. What I am hoping for is somebody to check our site for duplicate page issues (static and dynamic) coding, advise on link statergies and basically tell us where we are going wrong.I will happily pay double the going rate for expert seo consultant, although £20.00 uk sterling will take some finding.
ps what chance have I got #1 on google when I can't even work out how to attach the smiley icon

Windsor... it appears you are looking for a true SEO, not just link buyers and kw stuffers. Weed through them carefully. If they post on this forum, click on their avatar/picture and request to see all their prior posts. You may find that they only post "HIRE ME" or "TEACH ME" type messages... avoid them. There are others here that will impress and really know their trade... negotiate the 5-10 pounds sterling with them.

Thanks

Thanks for your advice bluebelt.
Up to now had very little response (early days) but suspect that might be cos this part of the forum doesn't attract the number of impressions that more popular catagories do. Also might have to post a worldwide appeal instead of my very limited local appeal.

Hire Me!.
I have good results.
I only get 9 out of 10 sites banned from the index so maybe we could be lucky.

Is it difficult reaching the keyboard whilst sat on the computer, is that why you wear the thong ?

Doh,, i was changing the on to at while you were posting.

Sorry.
But on a serious note.

There is no reason why you cannot be number one for any term.
The logistics of getting there are slightly different.

It takes time and energy but if you havet got either of them you can also substitiute with money.

Pick your seo carefully
I will say that again
Pick your seo carefully

It is a long term relationship and you need to make sure they can deliver.

The $19 bit is a joke from a few weeks ago from somebody coming on here asking how much they should charge for seo.

Never just jump in with both feet and do your research as you would in any business transaction.

I have had a very poor response to the post. Must assume this is due to the better seo people being to busy to help. The advise from moderators and senior members has exceeded the number of genuine propositions 2-1 still you never know previous pm messages might be followed through.Fingers crossed.

Its only been a day. While you are waiting use the Search function to review the same question asked earlier. You will probably find other good comments and advise. On issues that you are curious about for your SEO again use the search function for powerful threads.

If you aren't getting answers here go to some other forums and use the same process. PM those whose posts or threads are very helpful.

I'm a business person, not an SEM or SEO. Having been here a while I'd definitely be careful with whom I hire. In some regards there is a certain simplicity to this - in other regards it is very complex...and ultimately it takes time to whip google, especially dependant on the level of competition for the phrase(s).

I think the better consultants have enough people finding them - they don't need to chase business.

Your original post said that you wanted someone local.... I am in the US but both of the pros who have helped me over the past year have been on your side of the Atlantic.... people can give really good help from a distance by phone, email and chat.

Agreed EGOL - Geographic distance has never impeeded my relationships in the past. Even if they're your next door neighbor, most of you work comprises e-mails and online stuff, so why worry about location.

There are some good directories too - seoconsultants.com is good

The best way, however, is just to use SEOChat forums as a guideline. Click on the "members" tab and sort by number of posts or reputation. You'll get a good idea of who the strongest community members are.
