You don't go against such competition all at once. Take one at a time if you are going to but I recommend starting out with less competition and building up to these big keywords.

the keyword: offshore banking produces 100,000 searches(estimate) on Google a month. That is close to 700,000 unique visitors per month for all those phrases.

I would charge $20,000/month and would need the assistance of a writer/copyrighter paid by you the client. or you can try a freelancer site. They usually charge about $300 each rip off.

I agree with you

I need to speak to my client to make keywords more specific
About price...very complex issue
The domain is new, fine. Sandbox in Google for sure for at least 8 months. So we have yahoo and MSN which cover about 40% of searches ( as a Google). I am planning to start with MSN or less popular engine. What do you think?

Yes MSN is sometimes a good place to start. Much easier. But MSN and Yahoo certainly do not cover that much. Google covers more the 80% of searches(my statistics). Yahoo as far as I am concerned is dead and I hear alot of Yahooers are going to msn.

You'd probably need about 200 to 250 hours over 12 months. $20,000 per month is an outragous rip off, hire someone inhouse before even thinking about that.

I charge $100 an hour if you're interested I can email you my resume. I currently work SEO for companies such as Oakley, Mitsubishi, Chopra, Big Brother Big Sisters of America, just to name a few. Email me at SanDiegoSEO@gmail.com if your interested further.

If I were you, I'd target some more searched keywords, expand past just your small niche. Then it may be worth paying a PRO to get your ranking for those more competitive keywords.

I agree... when you had rank a website on the first place your next task is trying to go for more keywords and expand your website´s market. If you stay on only one keyword and dont try to expand, thats potential clients you are loosing...

I'll give you an example.

My first big SEO project was my satellite radio site.

I went for keywords like "satellite radio reviews" and "satellite radio receivers" - Ranking top 3 for those terms now. So The next step is to grab the smaller keywords and larger keywords such as "online music" "download music" "radio antenna" "digital music" "digital audio" ... etc...

Here is the biggest advice that I can give you.
Take your log files and put the keywords that people typed to get to your site into either nichebot.com or 123promotion.co.uk and find other "related" words that you can optimize for. The broader your theme the better in my opinion, it simply means you'll get more traffic and it gives you some nice topics that are one-off from your main theme that you can use for link building campaigns.

I agree, i ususally go first for the small keywords and the big keyword at the same time, this will get me rank on top 10 faster on the small keywords than in the big one.... and while i am in the ranking proccess for the big one i will start getting clients becuase of the small ones...

A lot of this stuff you just have to find a few niche's that get 1,000 searches per month and rank #1 for that result.

If you can find 30 of those niche's you'll be getting avg. of 1,000 hits / day.
In the amount of time for your site to come out of the sandbox and start ranking, you should be able to find those niche's.

- Once you've dominated for long-tail KWs, move on to the bigger keywords.

Well some inside advice... there "is" enormous revenue at stake - MSN took 10 days to dominant - there isn't much there. at least for offshore incorporation. The rest well could be but suspect the same thing.

Inform your client to acquire original copy - not free stuff like the 7 Wonders of the Offshore World By Rhiannon Williamson [their mainpage] and certainly not copied from websites in the field.

"IF" they develop their own copy and provided our clients both agree - I'm sure we can work out a mutual beneficial arrangement.

Likely do a few better - but first - address the copy issue - it will hurt your [their] potential to no end.
