I am One Month into SEO and learning a LOT of information in a CLUMP it feels like.
I was wondering if the more experienced SEO's would mind giving me one peice of advice to help me get the most from learning SEO. With there literally being an infinite amount of things I could read, study, or learn more about, I wanted to know what you suggest I focus on in the baby stages |

I'm also pretty new to the whole SEO game and I concur, read, read, read... Keep up to date on all the popular blogs, constantly be on the lookout for new SEO material, Ebooks are the best as the field is moving at such a rapid pace.. Any headline that has the word "Google" in it should have your immediate and undivided attention... Hmmmm... well, this all what I'm doing and it seems to be working

I agree with the above, read, read, read, Go through forums like this one and start hitting the blog trail. There are some great blogs that offer information.

I agree forums and blogs offer alot of info and many are willing to help you when it comes to questions once you start implementing what you have learned. Add a signature and work with "do follow" blogs and forums and you will be killing two birds with one stone and working on back links for your site as well.

Avoid posting questions here and taking the advice of the first person to respond.
There is lots of great advice given here and just as much bad advice. And, every person with high reputation will give bad advice now and then. Accept advice cautiously and then do research to confirm before you believe. Fast answer are nothing more than fast answers.

Time is not really a "four letter word"
and Patience is a virtue. The lack of this virtue and SEO will make all your hair fall out. Work hard and give it time. |

You'll need a lot of patience and a lot of testing. Trying thing out yourself is the best way to get better with SEO after reading a lot.

... accept me! <edit>Except me!</edit> I once thought I gave bad advice but I was wrong it was actually good advice in the end ... on second thought; since I was actually wrong that I didn't give bad advice and two wrongs don't make a right, we went left at Toledo and down hill 'til morning!

Aim to take the advice that is the most agreed on... so ive this thread another day, maybe two.. tally up the results and you'll have your answer!!
But I do agree with patience being a necessary virtue.
