Any official - good SEO Organizations around?

I was wondering - are there any good official SEO organisations around? I want to join one that would
boost credibility in my services, and which possibly could have some weight in my CV.

Well, there's the brand new SMA-NA at www.sma-na.org, but it's just getting started. Some other places you might want to check out are www.seoconsultants.com, www.seopros.org and www.semlist.com

Was at SMA-NA meeting at SES NYC last night. Good stuff, very good people, but a long road to travel - they are, however, accepting memberships now, and I will be making a decision in the next 3-5 days about whether to join and back this effort. Whichever way I go, I'll let you know why I chose it and what I think the organization can offer. I would urge you to stay away from an existing organization (SEMPO), whose structure and offerings are at best, limited.

Despite some bad press, I just recently joined SEMPO about two weeks ago....

there isnt any governing body for seo as yet.
all these organisations that have been mentioned so far, are not officials for SEO.

arn't pretty much all SEO organisations just marketing tools, to build fake crediblity.

Why don't you just make you own organization, you can make a site make yourself an honored memember, most valuable seo or something.

Then maybe you can find a couple other people to pay a few bucks to be part of your orgainization, and be most valuable seos too.

Then you can guys can go to bunch of SEO boards and tell people how great an exclusive your new club is.

Thats pretty much what all the other organizations are and do.

Bernard disagrees: SEO organizations are not all created equal. You do them all a disservice by painting with such a
broad brush.

lol. something like that ferret.

sempo? - they bring credibility to each other.
lots of praises for each other floating around, promoting each other strengths, services, etc.

you dont need to join such organisations. with some good posts and a helpful attitude, you will do better off in a webmaster forum than being a member of some organization.

I didn't get the Spider-food one, although I met all the criteria I'm not gonna beg for it though - LOL.

The best credit is always 'unsollicited' anyway, right?
