3rd Party seo offer

Hi there, I've had an seo company offer a client a package that if it delivers what it offers would seem to be worth the money.

My biggest reservation is that the offer seems very cheap, after the research I've done over the past couple of months for on page & off page optimisation, it seems a lot of work for only £500

Any thoughts on this offer???
Thanks

www.auctionnews.co.uk, "industrial auctions" or "liquidation auctions" or "auctions and tenders"

www.2002studios.co.uk "recording studios harrow", or "music productions harrow"

We’ve all had the calls offering this type of service but how many companies are willing to put their money where their mouth is. As a company, we DO offer a first page listing for a 12 month period or as a client you are eligible to arefund should you not be listed with 90% of the search engines we submit to and cover.

Well we have to talk money at somepoint, so here it is! The cost would be £495 plus VAT (5 search phrases) or £750 plus VAT (10 search phrases) for an annual charge that covers the first page listing for the 12 month period.

So, if they submit to 10,000 search engines, and they get you first page for all of them except the big three, then they've accomplished their goal. But what have you really gotten out of the deal? More information is needed from them to clarify the above.

What worries me is the fee, "12 month period", as well as a promise of 1st page listing. Binding a / to a customer is good, but it can become easily a mousetrap. If the monthly fee was more then I'd understand, but dividing 500/12 or 750/12 can make it very, very low proffit.

$19.00 is the correct price to pay for SEO. Just ask randfish!

But on a more serious level, be very frank in asking what they do, ask about their methods. Be sure to get in plain writing what it is they promise to do for you. Donna has a very valid point. Also as mentioned above, you usually get what you pay for in this (and many other) business.

So for a £1000, page 1 in google for 5 keywords, any thoughts...

They do offer 70% back if the keyword doesnt rank which makes it seem like it has a bit of a gurentee.

They didn't know about bourban update, and main philosophy for seo was w3c complient page, title, anchor text etc

Would love to hear some more peoples comments.
Thanks,
W

That's really much of SEO. No way they can get any page on top 10 if that's what they do.

That is one pretty good base-philophy assuming they do it precisely and full-scale. For example, HTML/XHTML spec talks very wisely about keyword usage (see for example http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/global.html#h-7.4.2) . And W3 has lot of information about accessibility, HTTP headers etc. that still get's discussed (and done wrong) by many SEO's. Implementing everything correctly might be enough to put you in top20, perhaps even better..

But keyword research, link building, log analysis etc. serious SEO is something you can't learn very deeply from W3.
