    Web Content Theft @#$#$@

Has anyone else been having a problem with content theft by other sites in your market? Our site http://www.lvrealty.net has been in the top ten on google for the majority of our kw for the last couple years. Recently I noticed another site had copied some of my home page text. I was able to have it removed by the agent. Now its happened again. So far our site has been ripped off by three other agent sites, one went so far as to copy an entire page from our site. Others stole only paragraphs and put them into their pages, including the exact link text. I've sent C & D letters but nothing has been done. I know we can sue civilly but I am wondering if I can also file a criminal complaint as well. Since these are realtor's sites, I did try the Realtor board, hoping that the ethical requirements would include theft----no luck. I guess they can steal all they want from other agents and the board couldn't care less. One of the sites in question is being hosted by IDX, who also provides the MLS info.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

I had some content stolen a couple of weeks ago. I contacted the site owner pointing out possible implications and the pages were removed very quickly.

Awall is spot on with his advice. In the US the Digital Millenium Copyright Act requires the host to take action (they can be sued if they don't). Hosts are pretty scared of this so they do take action. Google and Yahoo only remove pages if they are actually listed in the first place - but I believe they will remove the offending pages from their index.

I get those sites all the time. normally at thesite.com/your-keywords-keywords-keywords.html or thesite.com/search/%theme%/%keyword%.html

They copy your keywords and content to help with their SERPs it makes me really mad!!
