Site targeting to different regions

Hello,

I want to target my site to UK US and Europe.

I need some suggestions on how to for it?

Do i need to have www.domain.uk and domain.us different sites?

And how my keywords need to be different from region to region.

The industry is into bpo, I checked across Google ad word tool, all regions have almost same keywords.

Anyone has done similar work? Would u please guide me in this?

Thanks in adnance.

i read some information on it.

Either i can do different sites and link them to main sites. Means the home page will have links to other sub domains when i click on it, i am re directed to the sub domain. But every site will be independent site.

Other wise using a sub-folder rather than a sub-domain. domain.com/uk like that...

Which is better.

For GEO Targettig

Domain name is not very important

Server Location is quite important (but you can't split it into 3's!)

I would suggest in your situation its probably best to have 3 seperate sites with domains specific to region and hosted in the specific regions.
Get links from each specific region to the region you are targetting.

This should stand you in good sted if you get your keyword targetting right.

(I will start by saying that having no idea of your product, degree of competition, business model, level of funding) I wouldn't agree with this. I would recomend one large site and subdomains or folders for each region. Concentrate your efforts rather than spliiting them. Host the domain in your primary market/ Probably go for a .com domain as these are the least regionally specific. If you make your site powerful enough you can still easilly win in all three markets.

But you question is a bit lacking in information really to give any specific advice..

Best of luck..

thank you...gazzahk

I am just confused.

Can anybody just tell me what are the advantages and disadvantages associated with both the types. Having 3 independent sites and One site with sub folders to other regions.

This is a thread I wrote a few weeks ago regarding geotargetting take a read

http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/geo-targeting-implications-and-speculations-for-using-it-to-win-the-187958.html

To me there is very little advantage to be gained from 3 sites. You are simply splitting your efforts between the three sites. This means each site is less powerful. What do you think would do better in a fight - three children who are just learning to fight or one proffesional boxer. Unless you have large resources ie $$$$$ I would recommend in making one very good site.

I donot think the smallish geotargetting advantage is worth the cost of loss of strength..

As "gazzahk" says without knowing the full details of your site and market its difficult to say anything with 100% certanty. I would maintain that for a search carried out in a particular region you would rank higher in that region if your server was located there than if it wasn't.

The bennefit of one large "super site" might outweight that bennefit, its hard to say. The location of the links would also have an impact.

If it were me I would still go with 3 seperate sites but without knowing more its hard to say.

thank you all...

I have decided on one site, since the site is small and for other reasons.
