Similar Domains to one code base
Hi All:
We have 1 site that has 2 domains pointing to it. This was for misspelling prevention, but recently it was mentioned that this might be hurting us. The overview is that our domain is like widgets4you.com and widgetsforyou.com. Any advice on the fact that this will hurt us? Maybe we should do a redirect on one of them? Thanks! Buzz |

301 redirect the mis-spelling to the correct domain and you will be fine, you'll still pick up the misspelled traffic in a Search Engine friendly way.

Hi,
By directly resolving your misspelled domain to the website will cause search engines to see the second website as duplicate with duplicate content. By doing a 301-redirect, search engines and visitors alike will come across the URL and it will simply look like a permanent redirection because your website has moved and google will index this accordingly.. Also important to note that when the user types your misspelled domain, with a 301-redirect, it will actually fix the address to your original domain. Regards |
