But I also have a link to that article from the home page. Should I use a different anchor text on this home page link..something like "Creating a widget"?
2.) Are there any rules regarding how many internal links on a homepage are too many? The site I'm starting to design has about 25-30 at this stage - many pointing to specific article pages. My worry is keyword dilution. |
Be careful how you internally link, you don't want to go overboard and get crazy with how many internal links you create.
Having said that, internally link an article to another article using careful anchor text that fits naturally in the article can be beneficial.
Generally 25-30 link isn't too much when you factor in nav, footer, sidebar, you can probably do away with 30. PRetty much consider at most 5(?) additional internal links ontop of navigation.
I only chose that number because it seems natural to me as a visitor. If i see everything linked then it gets too busy for my eyes! I think in Google's perspective anything over 100 is questionable.
