Landing pages and new domain names

I've been receiving a few phone calls from google marketing people offering guaranteed success blah de blah....

I'm considering building a landing page with a keyworded domain to direct to my main site.

Is this a sensible idea or should I just concentrate my efforts on my original site?

A few questions.

Is the landing page just a keyword spam site with links to the main site?

Should I purchase an additional domain - wedding photographer cambridge? and link to my main site?

domians...
hyphens beneficial? cambridge-wedding-photographer etc
.org uk any advantage over a .co.uk

Any suggestions welcome.

these landing pages are spam, why build a new domain with a landing page when you can just build that page on your existing website??

The so called google experts are Google dullards. Keywords domains have nearly zero effect on rankings. And buying a new domain just for that purpose when you already have an existing website is wasting your money.

New domains have no links, and need to be SEO'd the sme way as your existing site so to make a new site makes no sense, as soon as someone gets bounced from one domain to another you risk losing them anyways!

Build out your existing website, get quality in links and build content which is truly useful to your potential customers.

Google experts my shoe, they just want your money.

I certainly had no intention of paying out money, but thought that doing this myself may be beneficial, but as you say, yes you do ned to do the whole seo on that also.

There are two competitors sitting very high on google.

One with the keyword domain name, with zero backlinks and a dodgy flash site. Why??

2nd has been optimised by a marketing company which links to his main site, so the landing page works for him.

I will probably add a new page to my site with the keywords in the url.
