    .htaccess

    Hello,

    Quick question.

We are launching our new site soon and I'm doing the 301 redirects.

The indexed directory currently is www.xxx/blog/

    The new blog is www.xxx/blog

Without the "/". Does this matter. When I type in the old blog directory on the new site (still on test server), it goes to the new address without the "/" automatically.

Just don't want to lose any ranking, we were just bumped to a 4 page rank, and don't want to lose that.

    Thanks

    Try this:

    Code:
    RewriteEngine On

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/blog/$ [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/blog/index\.(php|htm)
    RewriteRule ^.*$ http://www.SITE.com/blog [R=301,L]
    This will 301 redirect /blog/, /blog/index.php, /blog/index.htm and /blog/index.html to /blog

and after you've made those changes to your .htaccess file, make sure to get an SEO plugin for your site to help it run smoothly afterwards

In WordPress blog, click on "visit site" and that page will come, it is your main page.
